The newest episode of “19 Kids and Counting” aired on Sept. 23 and centered on Jill Duggar’s search for the perfect wedding dress. As noted by Christian Today on Sept. 22, Jill is happily married and in her second trimester of pregnancy. She recently posted a photo on Instragram of her growing belly and wrote, “Baby Dilly is now the size of a fuzzy sweet Georgia peach.” The super-sized, one-hour show titled “Jill Says Yes to the Dress” also featured a guys outing with Jim Bob, John David, Ben Seewald and Derick Dillard to explore the great outdoors and experience some manly bonding in advance of Jill and Derick’s big wedding.
Duggar girls unite for a wedding dress
A good portion of the latest episode of “19 Kids and Counting” was devoted to a girls’ shopping trip to Washington, DC to find the perfect wedding dress for Jill, who admitted, “I’m excitedly nervous about the big day.” Michelle Duggar said that she was also happy about the trip, but added that it was bittersweet to see one of her daughters get married.
The Duggar girls were treated to a brunch, hosted by Anna. During the meal, Jill asked her older sister Jana to be her maid of honor. Jinger, Jessa, Joy Anna and Anna were also tapped as bridesmaids. Afterwards, the girls went to a bridal shop and Jill received the princess treatment. Each Duggar girl read a special message to the bride-to-be. Jessa said that she loved Jill’s sweet and caring spirit. Jinger and Jana praised their sister’s compassion for others. With tears in her eyes, mom Michelle told Jill, “I know that the love you and Derick have for each other will grow sweeter through the years.” Be sure to watch the video above to see Michelle break down while wishing Jill her best. As posted by ABC News, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar celebrated their own 30th anniversary this summer.
When it was time to try on wedding dresses, Jill knew what she wanted – something fitted, but not too tight, with a vintage-inspired feel that also had a wow factor. Michelle stated on Tuesday, “She just glowed and was beaming.” After trying on numerous dresses, Jill finally settled on the eighth selection and exclaimed, “I think this is my dress!”
Duggar guys bond during a camping getaway
Jim Bob and John-David Duggar treated Derick and Ben to a camping getaway, which Derick referred to as “a Duggar family boot camp.” The four arrived at an Arkansas ranch and enjoyed a campfire, complete with s’mores. The next morning, the four guys went rock climbing as a bonding exercise. In advance of one and maybe two weddings, Jim Bob said that it was an opportunity for Derick and Ben to prove their worthiness of wedding a Duggar daughter. John-David, who does not have a girlfriend, joked during the risky activities, “I’m the most expendable of the group.”
Cliff jumping and zip lining were next on the adventurous agenda. While Jim Bob contemplated the strength of the cable, Derick stated later, “I saw my life flash before my eyes.” In the end, Ben and Derick passed the test of the rigorous Duggar family boot camp. John-David said that they would both be great brothers-in-law. Jim Bob added, “We’re going to remember this time for the rest of our lives.”
