The 2014 ALCS could come to an end this afternoon when the Orioles vs Royals live stream and TV coverage for Game 4 comes to an end early this evening. While the Orioles came into this series as the favorite according to Las Vegas sports books, the Royals seem to be a team of destiny.
According to a MLB report on Oct. 14, Kansas City remained undefeated in the postseason as they once again rallied for a late come from behind 2-1 win over the Orioles. The Royals are now in the driver’s seat with a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series and with a win today could advance to their first World Series appearance since 1985. Although they are just one win away, the players on this Kansas City squad know anything can happen in sports, and they can’t take it for granite that Baltimore will just roll over and give up.
“We’re almost there, man,” said Jarrod Dyson, who scored the winning run. “We’re almost at the Promised Land, but we’ve still got to go out tomorrow and play like it’s our last.” History is on their side.
MLB fans know that 3-0 leads never disappear. Well, it happened once, but Yankee fans don’t want to hear about it! As baseball history reports, 33 times has a previous best-of-seven postseason series team had a 3-0 lead and only once did the team leading 3-0 end up on the wrong side of the stick. Of those, 27 of the series ended in a sweep, while three went to a fifth game and two to a sixth game. Of course the only time a 3-0 series reached a Game 7 was in 2004 when the bearded Red Sox won four games in a row after trailing 0-3 to shock the Yankees.
Can the O’s pull off the same stunt? Sure, but it will be tough. A win for Baltimore today though would build a mound of confidence for the Birds, who actually are such a heavy underdog now that they are down 0-3 that they really don’t have any pressure on them. After all, no one expects them to come back. One win at a time is what the O’s need to focus on and they are hoping that facing Jason Vargas will bring the bats around. Vargas has an ERA over 7 in his last three appearances. Baltimore will counter Vargas with Miguel Gonzalez.
Las Vegas odds makers have today’s game listed as a pick, -110 for both sides with the over/under run total set at 7.5. Like I said for Game 3, Baltimore is so overdue for a big game, but it is hard to jump off a team that seems to have fate on their side!
Pick: Kansas City -110
