Family Reading Night (in Illinois) will be Thursday, November 20, 2014. Jesse White, Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian, presents Family Reading Night with the Illinois Center for the Book and ILLINOIS READS (a project of the Illinois Reading Council). The theme this year is “Reading Rocks!”
The Illinois State Library (I.S.L.) announced that libraries and literary organizations which ordered Family Reading Night bookmarks and posters before Wednesday, July 23, 2014 should be receiving those orders very shortly if they have not done so already. The 2014 Family Reading Night Order Form stated the materials would be mailed in September, but they have already gone out. Any organization that does not receive its order by early next month should e-mail Bonnie Matheis at bmatheis [at] ilsos.net or call her at (217) 558-2065.
A library or literary organization that has neglected to order Family Reading Materials and would like to do so now by having someone fill out this Order Form and sending it to the Illinois Center for the Book by mailing it to Illinois Center for the Book, Illinois State Library, Gwendolyn Brooks Building, 300 South Second Street, Springfield, Illinois 62701-1796 or faxing it to (217) 782-1877 or e-mailing it to Ms. Matheis. Confirmation e-mails will be sent once an order has been added to the database.
Notes that orders received after Thursday, July 24, 2014 will be mailed in late September and filled on a first-come, first-served basis until the supply is depleted. Materials are free. They are printed based on how many orders have been placed by the spring deadline (which this year was Friday, March 15, 2014).
A copy of the poster and programming ideas are available on the Family Reading Night page of the Illinois Center for the Book Web site. For more information, contact Ms. Matheis.
