It’s that time of year again. The unofficial end of summer is upon us and its shaping up to be a gorgeous send off to the sunshine season. The weather is set to be in the low 80s for perfect San Diego style. The beaches are warm and after a week of hurricane fueled pounding surf, the ocean is starting to calm down just in time for the holiday weekend. So what are the best ways to celebrate Labor Day in San Diego? By getting outside and enjoying the sunshine of course!
Here are the top outdoor 2014 Labor Day events in San Diego:
- US Sand Sculpting Challenge and 3D Art Explosion: Held August 29 – September 1st at B Street Cruise Ship Terminal Pier in downtown San Diego, this great outdoor Labor Day event combines two of our favorite things: sun and lots of sand! Guests will be blown away by the incredible 3D creations from some of the world’s top artists. With beautiful views of the San Diego Bay and downtown skyline, this San Diego Labor Day event is one not to be missed!
- Festival of Sail: Another great downtown San Diego Labor Day event is the Festival of Sail presented by the Maritime Museum. August 29th – September 1st for just $5 – $7, guests can attend the largest Tall Ship festival on the West Coast! Activities include: a petting zoo for kids, crafts and face painting, cannon battles, beer garden, entertainment, food, a 30 minute cruise and more.
- San Diego Bacon Fest: Is there anything better than sunshine, beer and bacon? Probably not, so don’t miss out on this awesome local event. It’s slogan is “It’s happening. Because it needs to.” and they couldn’t be more right. Over 20 eateries will be presenting their most awesome bacon-ations and what goes best with bacon? Beer! 25 breweries will also be in attendance, not to mention bands and vendors for bacon-lovers galore. Get ready to don your best bacon inspired duds and hang with the cool crowd this Saturday, August 30th from 1pm – 5pm at Liberty Station.
