The Des Moines Music Coalition has announced the initial details on the 2014 Little Big Fest. This year’s LBF won’t be quite so little, as the event is expanding to two days, November 21 and 22. The DMMC also announced the venues that would be hosting the events and the bands involved. This year’s event will feature performances from Charlie Parr, Kevin Gordon, William Elliott Whitmore, Brother Trucker, King of the Tramps, and more. Tickets for all the individual events (prices vary) and all-access passes ($28 in advance and $30 on Day 1 of LBF) are available through MidwesTix.
Friday’s festivities will be held at the Cowles-Kruidenier Auditorium at the State Historical Building from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will feature “The History of Iowa Roots Music” hosted by Andrew Fleming of Brother Trucker with a discussion and writers round featuring music by: Patrick Hazell (Mother Blues Band), Joe & Vicki Price, Dave Moore, and Bejae Fleming. This event is open to all ages, and tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door.
After things wind down at the State Historical Building, head on down to the Gas Lamp for the official After Party Jam. The party starts at 9 p.m., and it will be hosted by Reeferseed Express. There will be a $5 cover charge, and the after party is restricted to those 21 or older.
