Brooklyn Black Tie Ball Thursday October 2, 2014 6:30PM-11PM Pier 2 Promenade (Brooklyn Bridge Park)
Co-hosted by Kathy and Henry Elsesser and Cristina Soto and Scott Sergeant the evening will include cocktails, a seated three-course meal, and entertainment. All proceeds from ball will support the Conservancy’s free recreational, cultural, and educational programming in the park, including special sessions for public school classes and day camp groups from all parts of Brooklyn. Brooklyn Rescue Mission Urban Harvest Center’s Fundraiser Picnic Saturday October 4, 2014 11AM – 5PM Brooklyn Rescue Mission’s Bed-Stuy Farm 406 Decatur St Brooklyn, NY 11233
The Brooklyn Rescue Mission Urban Harvest Center (BRMUHC) hosts a special fundraising picnic, featuring fresh, local, and seasonal dishes.
Chef Noah Sheetz, founder and chef at the Chef Consortium, and former chef for the New York State Executive Mansion, the official residence of the Governor of New York. Chef Sheetz will be preparing such items as fingerling and sweet potato salad, spicy Asian slaw with almonds and kohlrabi, and fruit tartlets with maple whipped cream.
The picnic will also feature grilled and smoked meats by Jimmy’s No. 43, including items like homemade pork sausages, BBQ pulled pork, and ribs, using meat from Flying Pigs Farm in upstate New York.
Wine for the event will be provided by Michael Brooks of Bed Vyne Wine and Bed Vyne Brew local businesses based in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Beer for the event will be provided by local craft beer breweries.

Brooklyn- Queens Long Island Area Health Education Center Health Leadership Awards Gala Friday , October 10th, 2014 7- 11PM at Rex Manor Catering Hall (Brooklyn, NY)
The mission of the Brooklyn-Queens-Long Island Area Health Education Center (BQLI-AHEC) is to improve health care outcomes in underserved areas through the development of education, mentoring, and training programs to increase the pool of skilled providers that will service underserved communities. Jean Ford, MD, the Chair of the Department of Medicine at The Brooklyn Hospital Center; Sandra Russo, M.S., RN, Director and Chairperson of the Department of Nursing at Touro College; and Elena Nogueira-Lopez, M.S., LNHA, Associate Administrator at Lutheran Augustana Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation.

Since 2002, the Brooklyn Museum’s annual Women in the Arts event has been recognizing women for their outstanding achievement within the arts community in New York.
Proceeds from the event support the many educational and artistic programs offered by the Brooklyn Museum and its Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art. Proceeds from the Gala will benefit BRIC and their contemporary art and education programs. The night will include creative food and drink, fantastic fine art and unique experiential auction items.
