5 Seconds of Summer will embark on a headline tour of Canada and the U.S. in 2015. The red hot Australian boy band made the announcement following the news that their self-titled debut album topped the Billboard 200 this week.
According to a news release posted July 30 on their official Facebook page, 5SOS’ “Rock Out with Your Socks Out Tour” will hit arenas and amphitheaters in 30 cities across North America next summer. The tour will kick off July 16, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada, at Mandalay Bay Events Center and wrap up on Sept. 13, in Palm Beach, Florida, at the Cruzan Amphitheater.
Canadian stops include: July 25, Vancouver, B.C. – Rogers Arena, July 27, Edmonton, Alta. – Rexall Place, July 29, Winnipeg, Man. – MTS Centre and Aug. 25, Toronto – Molson Canadian Amphitheatre. Commenting on the tour announcement on their Facebook page, the band wrote:
We’ve literally had the most EPIC last few weeks of our lives here in the US… So today we are really excited to announce that we are doing our very own headline tour around the USA & Canada next year!”
The Auzzie sensations released their first studio album in North America on July 22. It debuted at No. 1 this week, selling 259,000 copies, making it the third-largest debut of 2014 and the fourth-largest sales week in the U.S.
The album was originally released on June 22 in Europe. Propelled by the first two singles “She Looks So Perfect” and “Don’t Stop,” the album topped the charts in 11 countries.
Earlier this month, the band also announced 2015 dates across Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The world tour begins May 4 in Lisbon, Portugal and finishes June 29 in Perth, Australia.
The band is currently supporting One Direction on its mammoth “Where We Are Tour”, which kicks off its North American leg with a two-night stand on Aug. 1 and 2 at Toronto’s Rogers Centre. They will also make two solo headline U.S. stops this fall, including Nov. 15-16 in Inglewood, California, at The Forum and Nov. 13 in Phoenix, Arizona, at the Ak-Chin Pavilion.Tickets for the newly added dates go on sale Aug. 9.
