Americans seem to have a short memory when it comes to recalling the numbers of radical Islam attacks that occurred inside our country. After performing OSINT research, I came up with a “reminder list” of such assaults. The Heritage Foundation tracked post-9/11 terrorist plots against the United States and listed them in an eye-opening journal article entitled “Terrorist Plots Since 9/11- Continued Lessons in Domestic Counterterrorism”. In addition to perusing this article, I searched for other terrorist attack plans against America’s heartland that were thwarted by the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC). The war with radical Islam is far from over; in fact, it’s just begun and will last much longer than the Cold War. Most disturbingly, the Heritage Foundation study revealed an increasing number of Islamist-inspired terrorist attacks that are originating within America’s borders and not planned overseas.
I first heard of such homegrown extremism during an AFIO seminar in 2006, where the counterintelligence spymaster Charles “Charlie” Allen was called back into service from retirement. He spent an hour warning about how moderate Muslims within the U.S. are being radicalized via the internet.
Yes, American’s have very short memories and few can recall the Islamist-inspired terrorist plots against our heartland since 9/11, nor that most of them were thwarted long before the public was ever in danger, due in large part to the concerted efforts by U.S. law enforcement and the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC). Of the 89 attacks listed below, we remember only the most dramatic attacks: 9/11, the Nidal Hasan massacre at Ft. hood; the Boston Marathon bombing carried out by Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev; and Ali Muhammad Brown’s killing of Brendan Tevlin in NJ (Brown, an extremist Muslim, admitted to shooting Tevlin simply because he was an American and stated, “we all deserve to die”.
Islamist terrorism is alive and well inside America- you’ll find this list eye-opening:
