What can first time attendees of Bent-Con expect this year?
Hopefully, when folks leave Bent-Con, they will learn how innovative and powerful we are (the LGBT community) in pop culture.
What do you hope people take away from the convention?
First time attendees should expect to see a lot creative and talented people coming together to celebrate LGBT in geekdom. There will be a lot of panels and discussions based on queer issues, as well as, tips in writing, directing, creating art and more.
Name 3 reasons why someone should attend Bent-Con?
1. To be inspired to follow their passion
2. To meet other LGBT creative people
3. To learn more about the world around them
How did the idea for Bent-Con come about and how did you get involved?
About six years ago, a few artists and creators thought it would a great idea to host an event that celebrated LGBT related works. The first show was super small and from there, it just grew. I got involved after the first year, I was very happy to be asked by the co-creator, Sean Z to be a part of this great event.
What part of this year’s convention are you most excited about?
I’m excited to see the attendees. For me, the attendees are the reason Why I do this. It’s a pleasure to see how happy and comfortable they are being among similar people.
What is your goal for Bent-Con this year? And the future of Bent-Con?
My goal is for an attendee to find their place at Bent-Con. And for the future, I hope we continue to be a haven for LGBT geeks.
