Not long after Sir Walter Raleigh landed in what would become North Carolina, the grape vine was first introduced and cultivated in the New World. In fact, by the dawn of the 20th Century, NC was the leading wine-producing region in the nation.
Blazing through the 21st Century, North Carolina is home to more than 100 wineries and over 400 vineyards and the state now ranks in the top-five destination for wine lovers and travelers. Once previously known for only the muscadine variety of grape and wine, commonly planted vinifera grape varieties now include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Viognier. There is a world of wine to be discovered all across the state.
And what goes better with wine than food, friends and fun? A Vine Time Tours creates the perfect pairing of wine, food and friends!
