In Utley’s short lifetime of only a year-and-a-half, this sweet and friendly dog just hasn’t had much luck. Extremely bonded with his owner who died, Utley was rescued from a shelter near White Plains, New York and sent to a foster home. Unfortunately, Utley didn’t do well with the other dog and was sent back to Road to Home Rescue where he had to be placed in a nearby boarding facility.
Everyday Utley sits with his body pressed up against the bars of his kennel hoping that someone will take him home. His evaluation shows he loves to exercise, play and cuddle.
Utley is miserable; he has refused to eat, acts extremely depressed and urinates and defecates on himself. The staff have been bathing him everyday; such a sad observation follows:
“They hear him crying every day and watch him spin and pace in his cage. He has lost the light in his eyes and the will to go on. You can see the pain and sadness in his eyes. He sits pressed up against the bars as the staff walks by hoping that someone will take him home. His face is red because he is constantly licking the bars of the cage due to all the stress he is enduring. Each day people pass him by and can no longer recognize the sweet, loving and playful dog that Utley used to be.
Although the excellent boarding facility Utley has been placed prepares excellent diets, clean large kennels and runs, and regular walks and exercise for all of the dogs, this youngster needs a home.
“We know that if Utley was given the chance to have a family to call his own, the light would come back in his eyes, his incredible personality would shine and he would shower his owners with lots of love. All this boy needs is a little “TLC” and an owner who is willing to give him a second chance.”
