In the last episode, Coulson makes a bold move to save his team while the Hydra makes a move.
In this week’s episode, called ‘Making Friends and Influencing People’, Coulson and the team go out and try and recruit members for their team while running into an old friend that now works for Hydra.
Dr. Whitehall is interrogating former SHIELD agents trying to find out information about the 084.
We finally meet back up with Simmons (and not the one that Fitz is hallucinating). She has a new job and it’s with the last person that you would expect. Hydra. I’m going with she’s working undercover because the alternative is just to hard to swallow.
Simmons is working on something for Hydra and she is under a lot of pressure about whatever it is. Nothing like how it was for SHIELD. Looks like what she is looking at is more of a who. It’s Donnie (Dylan Minnette, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day).
Turns out that it’s true. THANK GOD. Simmons is working with SHIELD at Hydra as an under cover agent. Wonder how that happened. Surprised that Hydra weren’t more careful with her.
It looks like Coulson’s little visit to Simmons might have cost her her cover. But alas it’s because she didn’t admit that she knew Gill. But this isn’t good if they noticed this. It means she’s going to be under a watchful eye.
Whitehall’s right hand man, Sunil (Simon Kassiandes, TV’s Nikita), decides to test Simmons by putting her on the field as the agents try and take in Gill. Which could spell bad news as Gill is pissed about Hydra’s attempts to recruit him.
Coulson debriefs the group about what Simmons told him. He thinks that Hydra wants Gill to harness his powers and use it for their own use. They break and try and find all the information that they can on Gill.
That includes Skye talking to Ward. Skye is still angry with Ward about what happened and he tries once again to connect with her but she shuts him down. It’s going to take a lot for him to get her trust again. But he’s on the right path by helping them when he can.
SHIELD goes after Gill after he makes an appearance and try to get to him before Hydra takes him down. When Ward finds out what SHIELD is doing, he tries to warn Fitz.
Hunter gets the warning and takes down Simmons so that she can’t reprogram Gill. But May stops him because he didn’t know that was Simmons. Sunil is able to finish his brainwashing and now Gill is working for Hydra. Skye takes out Gill and is able to protect Simmons’s cover.
Good for Skye’s first mission.
Sunil is impressed with Simmons for the mission and wants to promote her but with a catch. If they catch her betraying them, Whitehall will ‘force her to comply’ like with Gill and the other agent from the beginning of the show. The stakes just got a whole lot higher for Simmons.
By the end of the show, Ward drops a bomb on Skye as he tells her that her father is still alive and that he can bring her to him. This does not at all complicate things for Skye. No doubt she’s going to be curious but she knows she can’t completely trust Ward.
In other news, May is still training Skye and Skye is proving that she might just be a solid agent yet.
Mack is still trying to help Fitz with his memory and becoming his friend. Fitz is getting frustrated that no one will tell him anything about what’s really going on. So Fitz tries to get answers for himself. From Ward.
There seem to be something going on between Skye and Hunter as he keeps trying to get to know Skye. Obviously she’s going to be hard to trust especially another male field agent that’s trying to flirt with her.
In next week’s episode, Coulson/May go under cover to try and find some paintings that hold vital information for the war against Hydra.
