Amanda Bynes has once again been arrested. This time the former “Amanda Show” actress was arrested in California over the weekend when she stopped in the middle of an intersection. According to TMZ on Tuesday, Bynes was determined to be under the influence of Adderall.
Not only is Bynes back in trouble with the law, the 28-year-old comedic actress has also dropped out of fashion school. The Hollywood Gossip reports that Bynes just stopped going to classes after her parents’ conservatorship ended earlier this month. Reportedly, Bynes’ parents did not ask the court to renew their conservatorship.
Bynes had been living with her parents in Thousand Oaks, California and commuting two hours each day to attend the Fashion Institute Design & Merchandising in Irvine, California. This arrangement lasted for less than a year. After the conservatorship ended, Bynes moved into her own apartment in Orange County.
Apparently, Bynes can’t handle living on her own. The “What I Like About You” star fell back into her old ways of drinking and smoking pot. Said a source close to her, “She stopped taking her psychiatric medications. She is out of control.” The source went on to say that it’s sad, because Bynes had been doing so well.
Bynes was already on probation from an April 2012 accident where she hit a Los Angeles County sheriff’s patrol car in West Hollywood. It was determined then that she was also driving under the influence. On Sunday, Bynes had reportedly taken the doctor prescribed stimulant drug Adderal before getting behind the wheel. According to the California Highway Patrol, Bynes was “out of it” and disheveled.
Early Sunday morning, Bynes was taken into custody in the Van Nuys neighborhood of Los Angeles after an officer witnessed her stop in the middle of an intersection for a red light. Bynes failed several field sobriety tests. She was evaluated at the West Valley CHP office and determined to be under the influence. Bynes posted $15,000 bail and was released hours later from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Jail.
Bynes publicly announced that she had retired from acting in 2010, saying “I don’t love acting anymore, so I’ve stopped doing it.” Bynes decided in late 2012 that she was going to focus on launching her career as a fashion designer. However, Bynes’ legal issues continued well into 2013. Bynes was arrested in May 2013 for criminal possession of marijuana and was detained once again in July 2013 for setting a small fire in the driveway of a stranger’s house.
Bynes was diagnosed with schizophrenia after a short hospitalization at a private facility outside of Los Angeles. At the end of 2013, Bynes was released into the custody of her parents and enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Reportedly, several networks had shown interest in following Bynes around New York City for Fashion Week. Said the source, “A couple of weeks ago, those talks abruptly stopped, and no one knew why. Now, it’s become very clear. She needs to get back into treatment!”
