Just a few days ago Detroit Celebrity Examiner reported that Amanda Bynes was “dull and boring” on social media these days. However, on September 29, 2014, according to E! News Online, Amanda Bynes was picked up at 3 a.m. Sunday morning for a DUI.
The California Highway Patrol confirmed to E! News that the “Hairspray” actress has been charged with a misdemeanor after the police had determined that Bynes “was under the influence of a controlled substance” while she was driving. Amanda was held at Van Nuys, Calif. station on a $15,000 bail before being released at 12:44 p.m. Sunday.
The star of “She’s All That” was said to be traveling westbound on Riverside Drive in Sherman Oaks. As Bynes approached the intersection there was a red light. Amanda stopped for the red light on Van Nuys Boulevard, but when she stopped, she stopped in the middle of the intersection. It was then the police pulled the former child Nickelodeon star over.
Once Amanda was pulled over she was given a “series of sobriety tests, which she was unable to complete,” according to the California Highway Patrol. Bynes was taken to the CPH West Valley office where she was given a drug test. According to the officials, “she was under the influence of a controlled substance.”
At the time of publication the name of the substance has not been released.
Amanda is to appear in court on October 23 from her 2012 DUI where she was placed on three-year probation. As part of her plea bargain she was to complete a three-month alcohol education program. In May of 2013 Amanda was charged with throwing evidence (a bong) out her NYC apartment window. A case that was later dropped.
In July of 2013 Amanda was detained on a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold for setting a fire in a driveway which belonged to her parent’s neighbor. She was released from treatment in December 2013 and promptly enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, which she began attending in January 2014.
In April, Amanda’s lawyer, Tamar Arminak released a statement on her behalf stating that “Amanda is on zero medication. She’s devoted to living her life as healthy as possible. She’s never had a history of abusing alcohol or hard drugs, and she’s proud to say she’s been marijuana free for the past nine months.” Arminak also commented that Bynes does not have “schizophrenia, nor has she been diagnosed with it.”
