So, Ann Coulter apparently decided to take some time off from mischaracterizing atheists and those to the left of her ideological position to venture into the wide world of sports.
She published her latest article, entitled “America’s Favorite National Pastime: Hating Soccer” to her very own website, the url of which does not scream narcissist at all, AnnCoulter.com.
The topic of her most recent op-ed is soccer. And as soon as her bony, little fingers went to typing, the reason she stated at the beginning of the piece that she had avoided the topic, in her own words, mind you, was because she “didn’t want to offend anyone.” Apparently, she doesn’t think her recent behavior which has included but has not been limited to offending people with special needs by tweeting tweets containing the “r” word and causing a scene because the pilot of a flight on which she was booked was an African-American female, which resulted in her running off the plane screaming like a hysterical mad-woman about affirmative action and comparing the pilot being given the job to being akin to the United States permitting Mexicans to be doctors peeved anyone in the slightest.
She states in her article that “any growing interest in soccer can only be a sign of the nation’s moral decay.”
Just days after her article about soccer went viral, dozens of journalists and bloggers took to the internet, criticizing her views. This has become an all-too-common trend when she puts her thoughts before the American public.
In her article, she states, among other things that “the prospect of personal humiliation or major injury is required to count as sport.” Taking into consideration she thinks these qualities are necessary for an event to be worthy of being labeled “sport,” I would imagine for her next column, she would be torn between defending schoolyard bullying or waxing on about the positive effects of the actions of U.S. military personnel that were brought to light during the Abu Ghraib prison scandal.
What a lust for voyeuristic violence she has. I would bet good money that if she could visit any time in history, she would be just smitten if she could be in the crowd at the Colosseum in the times of ancient Rome to cheer on the spectacle of blood and gore that were the gladiatorial games.
She goes on to champion her fondness of U.S. standard units.
Fun fact for Ann: The U.S. is one of only three (the other two similarly stubborn countries being Liberia and Myanmar) nations who haven’t caught up with the rest of the 192 or 193 (depending on if you include Taiwan) countries in the world and adopted the much simpler and easier to use metric system.
All of this is to say, by penning her most recent article, after the American public has read it, compounded with the rest of her body of work, she has brought us all together to let us realize America’s real favorite national pastime: hating Ann Coulter.
