We’re back for another episode of “America’s Next Top Model,” and unlike nearly all the previous episodes which start with the models arriving back home from judging, this episode starts in judging as we await the announcement of just who will be coming back to the competition.
It’s between Chantelle and Ben, and I am kind of bummed it wasn’t Matthew instead of Ben, but alas, as the pictures are shown, and the scores from social media are displayed, it ends up being Chantelle who is back.
This week, the models will have a challenge and a photo shoot, so one more person has to go before the models go to Korea.
The models return to the house and are greeted by Will’s winning photo. Will receives a Tyra Treat message. He chooses Raelia to share the Tyra Suite with him.
Later on, as everyone is hanging out and chatting, the models get the impression that maybe Chantelle isn’t all that thrilled at being back, as she talked about how great it was on the “other side.” There’s definitely some bad feelings about her return from most everyone.
The next day, the bus brings the models to a strange building, and as they enter the darkened room, they are greeted by Yu Tsai and photographer, Cobra Snake. He has been on ANTM before in Cycle 20.
Today, the models find out that the building they are in is actually a former slaughter house. They will be walking down a dark path where Cobra Snake will find them and take their photo. The person that gives the best pose will be the winner.
Everyone is shown to a pitch black closed room, and a disembodied voice calls out “Chantelle.” She’s obviously scared, but she enters the door to the walkway she has to travel, and the door slides closed behind her. She walks in and mannequins and live people dressed as zombies attack her, but she keeps walking until she meets up with Cobra Snake and Yu Tsai, and she goes from scared to fierce.
One by one the other models are called, and considering the circumstances, everyone does pretty well. The one mishap was Raelia, who was confused when Cobra Snake first started snapping shots of her. She was turned the wrong way, so several of her shots were from behind. Yu Tsai kept yelling at her to turn towards the flash. Too funny.
Well, every challenge has to have a winner, and Yu Tsai and Cobra Snake meet with the models to give the comments on who won. He really loved Chantelle and Shei, but in the end, it was Chantelle who was the winner.
The challenge scores were posted when the models returned to the house.
Later that day, Will learns that his Tyra Treat is actually a call to his parents. His mom and dad are close to the camera on the phone and start talking to him, and he hears their voices echoing from inside the house. Yes! They are actually there to see him in person. What a treat. Will has a great visit with his parents.
After Will’s parents left, the doorbell rings and it’s Miss J and Yu Tsai. They talk to the models about HIV awareness. Miss J says that he’s lost 4 roommates, 30 friends and his sister to HIV and AIDs. The best protection, besides abstinence is using condoms. Yu says that the theme of their photo shoot will be “no glove, no love,” and they’ll each be photographed wearing these elaborate gloves, and posing with themselves in artistic shots.
The photographer is Erik Asla, who photographed them in episodes 8 and 9.
Several models did quite well. Among them were Lenox, and Chantelle, although she didn’t start off well, she finished strong. Shei also looked really strong, as did Adam.
Both Raelia and Will had so so shoots. Nothing spectacular, but nothing overly bad.
Others didn’t have such a great shoot, like Keith, who just seemed lifeless, and Mirjana, who seemed like she was really thinking about Denzel, who was just eliminated.
It’s time for panel. The judge’s scores will be shown left to right. Miss J, Tyra, Kelly Cutrone.
First up is Chantelle. Kelly loves the photo. Tyra thinks that Chantelle is putting up a wall, and she calls her out on when she was first eliminated that she just walked past everyone else. Chantelle explained that she has this wall up due to having been bullied about her skin condition throughout school, so she can sometimes seem a bit cold.
9, 9, 8
Next is Mirjana. Kelly isn’t loving the shot, saying that it looks like an amateur singer looking for a record deal. Tyra thinks that Mirjana is getting weaker, but she still believes in her.
7, 7, 6
Lenox is next. Kelly loves Lenox’s photo.
8, 9, 8
Adam is next. Tyra is really proud of Adam, as he’s really improving weak after weak.
8, 9, 7
Next is Keith. Tyra thinks that Keith has no energy today, and she remembers him not having energy during the photo shoot.
7, 7, 8
Will is next. Tyra asked about his visit with his parents, and Will says that it was really great. After looking at his shot, Miss J asks Will if he feels comfortable out of his clothes, and Will agrees that he doesn’t. His shot reveals that thought.
7, 8, 7
Shei is next. Miss J and Tyra love the shot, but Kelly does not.
8, 10, 6
Last is Raelia. Kelly thinks that Raelia isn’t trying hard enough in the shot.
7, 7, 8
Now, the judges scores will be combined with the challenge scores and the social media scores to find out who will be going home. The call-outs went as follows:
The bottom two are Raelia and Mirjana. Who will go home? Mirjana is packing her bags and going home, and Raelia will make the journey to Korea with the other six models. Tune in next Friday, Oct. 31, to find out what happens next.
