Save the date for an evening of philanthropy and celebration on Saturday, November 8 at the eighth annual “Wild About Kids” Gala to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade. This year’s event chairs are Dr. Robert Thomas and Eris Thomas, long-time supporters of the B&GC of Miami-Dade and active community philanthropists.
“Robert and I are thrilled to be hosting the acclaimed ‘Wild About Kids’ Gala this year,” said Eris Thomas. “We look forward to creating an exciting event that will not only be the ‘talk of the town,’ but will also increase awareness of all that the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade does to change the lives of area youth. We hope to raise the most funds of any ‘Wild About Kids’ gala to date.”
The Thomas’ began preparing for the gala in July, gathering together an “all-star” committee to plan the annual event. Their hope is to increase awareness of the works performed by the B&GC and to raise funds for the organization.
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception and continue with the program, dinner, dancing and live entertainment. The gala continues with an after-party, where there will be a DJ, dancing, an open bar and tasty appetizers. There will be an auction and raffle of fabulous items, and the unique opportunity to sponsor a child through donations.
More than 450 community leaders and philanthropists are expected to attend the gala and join in celebrating the significant work performed by the B&GC and recognizing the organization’s positive impact on the community.
Sponsorship and underwriting opportunities are still available and range from $1,000 to $50,000. The B&GC is also accepting in-kind gift donations. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade first opened in 1940. Since that time, the B&GC has expanded to serve 10,000 local youth across its five locations in the county. Each club is a safe space where children can form friendships, participate in the arts, play sports and receive homework help. Through its programming and services, B&GC aims to educate, empower and enable area children to become independent, successful members of the community. The clubs’ programs include career preparation, leadership and character development, and health and life skills.
