Left wing radical diatribe is usually harmless about the “crazies” of the right wing Bible thumping evangelical conservatives, however when non-partisan officials begin to articulate this irrational prejudice as a matter of record, then you know it is a problem. Ask Donald Sterling.
When Lois Lerner refused to testify before a congressional hearing last year by pleading the 5th Amendment regarding not giving any information that could incriminate herself, then piously spouting “I have done anything wrong”, was perjury at the least and a blatant lie at best. That covers a lot of territory when one claims they have done nothing wrong.http://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2014/03/05/lois-lerner-before-oversight-committee-n1804450
“I have not done anything wrong. I have not broken any laws, I have not violated any IRS rules or regulations and I have not provided false information to this or any other congressional committee.”
Lerner took the opportunity to claim innocent strictly on her say so, however would not respond to efforts to demonstrate that innocence.http://www.cbsnews.com/news/irs-lois-lerner-called-republicans-crazies-in-email/
Self-incrimination can only result should one have something to hide and Lerner’s decision not to answer after being served with a congressional order at the advice of legal counsel showed enormous “contempt of Congress”, a charge later affirmed by Congress in a 231-187 vote that went very much along party lines.
The hostility displayed by democrats or liberals towards religious groups and religious freedoms is an indication that animosity towards conservative religious groups has been growing even before the 2012 elections.
In one released communication from Lerner’s Blackberry while traveling in Europe, she had a revealing conversation with a personal colleague. Her personal friend was complaining how she heard some women say America was going bankrupt and going down the proverbial tubes.
Lerner’s personal friend said, “Well, you should hear the whacko wing of the GOP. The US is through; too many foreigners sucking the teat; time to hunker down, buy ammo and food, and prepare for the end. The right wing radio shows are scary to listen to.”
“Great, maybe we are through if there are than many —holes”, was Lerner’s response.
The other person’s response was, “And I’m talking about the hosts of the shows. The callers are rabid.”
Lerner replies, “So we don’t need to worry about alien terrorists. It’s our own crazies that will take us down”.
Lerner’s comments are not too far off the rants of other radical left wingers who are angry that the religious organizations have influence based on their conservative value system. The motive of Lerner and others are clearly verbalized in their communications showing their personal disgust, disdain and hostility as a motive for their actions.
The IRS knew it had a big problem and placed Lerner on paid administrative leave shortly after her refusal to answer questions and relieved Lerner of her duties May 23rd of 2013. By a spectacular coincidence Lerner’s computer had severe problems producing emails during a critical time period before the 2012 elections. By another amazing coincidence every one of her subordinates in her reporting line also had computer problems.
In another breech of confidence the Justice Department has been behaving as a lame duck that displayed absolutely no interest in pursuing the IRS scandal. The JD has been following the political will of the Obama Administration in the past and appears to be taking their judicial duties according to what the White House has dictated. This separation of the executive branch and judicial branch has been circumvented on a number of occasions due to “political expediency”.
Was the IRS dragging its feet and hamstringing conservative or religious groups through intimidation and extra scrutiny?
Based on the findings and ridiculous IRS claims that only some “rogue employees” were involved seems highly unlikely.
Some truth did come out because those “rogue employees” picked up their marching orders to harass conservative or religious groups based on their superior’s attitudes and insinuations. Those stereotypical messages were received and implemented in order to earn approval on their job.
There is no other way to explain the extra scrutiny with frivolous questioning, longer wait time, and the auditing requests that were done to intimidate religious or conservative groups.
