A family-fun autumn getaway awaits at the 45th annual Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival in Coshocton, Ohio where the sights, sounds and aromas of autumn come to life on Friday, October 17, Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19. It is approximately a 2 hour drive from Cleveland.
Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival Taking place at Roscoe Village, the historic restored 1800’s era canal town, the Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival will have lots of fresh apple butter simmering over an open fire, the aroma spreading over the village as visitors stroll the streets. And there will be free samples being offered.
The Festival will feature artisans and crafters displaying their wares and there will be plenty of live entertainment performing a variety of music styles. Just a few of the performers include the Back Porch Swing Band, the Wayfarers and Spring Creek Psaltries/Friends. And make sure you don’t miss the storytelling and music by Steve Ball.
Visitors will be able to enjoy various educational outdoor demonstrations. Among the Festival demonstrations this year will be beeswax candle making, hat making, outdoor living & cooking, spoon making, basket weaving, spinning, jewelry making, beekeeping, woodworking, throwing pottery and stained glass.
Don’t miss the chance to take a canal boat ride on the horse-drawn historic Monticello III. Departures all three days of the Festival are at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Shuttles will be available to take you back and forth on Saturday and Sunday. There is an admission fee for the canal boat rides.
Just in time for Halloween, a featured attraction is the “Spirit of Roscoe” tours being offered on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Visitor Center. Visitors will be able to take an eerie stroll through the Village by lamplight and hear tales about spooky incidences in Roscoe Village’s past. Cost of the “Spirit of Roscoe” tours is $9.95 for adults and $4.95 for students.
In addition, the Festival will feature activities for the children and contests (Corn Shellin’ for the kids on Saturday and Apple Peelin’ for the adults on Sunday).
Be sure to check out the hands-on Activity Room at the Visitors Center where guests can try tin-punching, candle-dipping and painting a top. Cost is $2.50 per craft.
Food will be aplenty with numerous vendors offering their culinary delights for purchase.
Hours for the Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $5 for guests 12 and over. Parking is free.
