Argivian Archaeologist is an iconic Magic: The Gathering card from one of game’s earliest expansion sets, Antiquities. This rare white creature card was insanely powerful at the time, allowing you to recur dead artifact creatures or destroyed artifacts and exploit sacrifice abilities.
Argivian Archaeologist – 1WW
Creature – Human Artificer (Rare)
WW, Tap: Return target artifact card from your graveyard to your hand.
Fascinated by the lore of ancient struggles, the archaeologist searches incessantly for remnants of an earlier, more powerful era.
While Hana, Ship’s Navigator may be a more versatile modern day Magic: The Gathering card because it can also target enchantments, Argivian Archaeologist still has a cheaper to use activation cost. It’s important to note that because Argivian Archaeologist isn’t a legendary creature you can have multiples on the battlefield at once.
Argivian Archaeologist won’t see play in any competitive Legacy or Vintage deck, however it’s still an MVP in some Commander decks where it can yield you a massive amount of card advantage. We recommend protecting it with Lightning Greaves or Swiftfoot Boots.
