SEC football fans don’t have to bite their tongue any longer.
Thanks to AT&T and AT&T U-verse.
Beginning October 11, and during select SEC games this season, fans will have the chance to ask their TV questions and get an answer back.
How is this possible?
It’s AT&T’s “Talk Back,” and U-verse subscribers and other that head on over to www.att.com/talkback, an interactive second-screen feature that will be active during some SEC games lets viewers ask questions online, then get answers from experts and well-known SEC personalities.
The technology debuted this week with the Alabama vs Arkansas game. John Parker Wilson, former University of Alabama quarterback who played in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Pittsburgh Steelers was one guest.
Felix Jones, former University of Arkansas star running back and first-team All American, along with being a former first-round draft pick for the Dallas Cowboys was the second guest.
Wilson and Jones will be on the hot seat for this SEC rivalry, but Wilson says he’s excited about this technology and not nervous.
“It doesn’t scare me,” said Wilson via phone from the studio a little before gametime. “This is pretty cool. From a fan perspective it’s great. I want to think of this like sitting in a living room on the couch talking about the game.”
Jones says he’s looking at this as an opportunity to have some fun.
“This is a big game. Arkansas is looking for recognition in the SEC and I can talk about my old SEC team.”
For fans that want to use Talk Back, they can simply type their questions in the text field they will see on the feature’s screen. They then can watch in anticipation watch for when the players and coaches will answer their questions.
“It’s like a game because it’s as interactive as you can get,” continued Wilson, who also played in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons. “People are going to be firing away, and I’m sure there will be second guessing on why did they call that play?”
As with any sporting event, Jones says he expects there to be some trash talking.
“Being next to (Wilson) I’ll be able to trash talk with a quarterback. I also think there might be trash talking with the fans. This is how the SEC works. Every week is a big game and basically a playoff game.”
For years, one of the purposes of AT&T U-verse is to keep viewers engaged, and Talk Back is positioned to do just that.
“AT&T U-verse is providing a TV-watching experience unlike any other provider,” said Mel Coker, chief marketing officer, AT&T Home Solutions. “It’s always been our mission to provide customers with an interactive experience, and with Talk Back, you’re not just a spectator—you’re part of the action.”
Talk Back users can ask a question on October 11 during the Alabama vs. Arkansas game and in weeks to follow via the U-verse App for Tablet, Uverse.com or on www.att.com/talkback.
Jones says he wants to hear from fans all over the country, so don’t let him down.
“I’m expecting to hear from football fans from all over- even Dallas Cowboys fans. Cowboys fans love to ask questions.”
So football fans, here’s your chance to “talk back.”
