charge using a USB cable. Even more exciting, the Qi charger will use the power bank to charge your devices even when an external power source isn’t available.

The Aukey N11 Qi Wireless Charger is compatible with direct charging smartphones including Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2nd Gen, Nexus 4, HTC 8X, HTC Droid DNA, Nokia Lumia 920, and the LG Optimus Vu2. Other models, including the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Nokia Lumia 820, iPhone 5, 5S, 5C, 4, 4S, and 3G will require a wireless charging case or a cover adapter to take advantage of the Qi charging technology. Still other phones that aren’t natively Qi compatible can be easily converted with a simple and inexpensive Qi receiver which is inserted inside the case and plugs unto the microUSB port on the outer edge of the phone.
Once you have determined that your phone is Qi compatible through any of these methods, charging the phone is as simple as placing it on the target circle on the Aukey N11 charger and tapping the power button to turn it on. When the phone is correctly positioned on the charging area of the N11, the LED lights will come on and a green LED light will flash to indicate that charging has begun. As long as the N11 power bank is fully charged, you can charge your device with or without connecting the AC adapter. The printed Instruction Manual includes pictured of the right and wrong way to position a device on the charger but if you see that green light come on, then you did it correctly.
Since the Aukey N11 is also equipped with a 4800 mAh power bank, even phones and other devices that are not Qi compatible can be charged using a USB cable connected to the 1A USB port on the N11. A microUSB cable is included but if your device requires a different cable, just use the one that came with your device to connect it to the charger.
The target circle on the N11 charger is a rubbery texture which keeps your device from sliding off while charging. Similarly, there are rubber feet on the bottom of the charger to keep it from sliding around on your desk.
My Leagoo Lead 1 smartphone is not Qi compatible but it worked beautifully with an add-on Qi receiver that I purchased on Newegg for about $8. Amazon also has a good selection of inexpensive Qi receivers that will allow you to take advantage of this new charging technology. The receivers are designed to insert into the phone’s case with only the short flat USB cable extending out to plug into the microUSB port on the phone. You also have the option to use the receiver externally and just plug it into the USB port and then position it on the charger. I used the receiver externally with the Leagoo phone because some receivers generate heat while charging and I’m uneasy about closing that heat inside the phone. Both receivers that I’ve used have generated a lot of heat so I err on the side of caution.
However you choose to attach the receiver, the Aukey N11 will charge your device very quickly. The built-in safety features will stop charging when your phone is almost fully charged to avoid problems from over charging. The Leagoo stopped charging at 95% and the LED lights on the charger went off. The Leagoo charges very quickly anyway so the charging speed using the N11 are that much more impressive. The battery level was down about 25% when I stared it charging on the N11 and it took less than 20 minutes to charge. When it was done, the N11 shut off automatically and the lights went off. Pressing the power button again activates the LED lights and displays the power status remaining in the power bank.
The Aukey N11 Qi Charger and Power Bank provides the means to charge your phone and other small devices whether they are Qi compatible or not. That gives you the best of both worlds in a compact package that will fit in your pocket. You can find the Aukey N11 on Amazon in both Black and White for $50 with free shipping. It’s also available on Newegg in both colors for $53 with free shipping. The N11 charger is fully covered under Aukey’s excellent 18 month product warranty.
