Are you feeling sad as you say so long to summer? Fall arrived, welcomed or not, at 10:29 PM tonight. The website Almanac.com explains our Autumnal Equinox, “The word equinox comes from the Latin words for “equal night.” The fall and spring equinoxes are the only days of the year in which the Sun crosses the celestial equator. From here on out, the temperatures begin to drop and the days start to get shorter than the nights.”
So, with the Equinox, the heavens gift the earth balance, an equal amount of time to experience both day and night. Ah, breathe it in my friend, really feel it. Yes, let’s take this moment to embrace this gift of balance in our lives. How about using a bit of these upcoming hours to reflect upon the abundance in your life or lack thereof? Wouldn’t it be nice to balance these extremes? Can you think of a better day to start a mission or shift your energy to continue the balance God gifted tonight? Do you feel balanced or have you failed at this because your world seems to control you as apposed to you controlling the variables of your world?
Many times, the simple truth of awareness empowers. You must realize that you have breathed life into anything that currently pulls you into the many directions you are tugged. If you have energized this cycle, you can also balance it. According to Google the word balance means, “keep or put (something) in a steady position so that it does not fall.” Are you protecting yourself from falling or are you setting yourself up for this failure?
Benjamin Franklin once said, “By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail.”
So how can you prepare to become more balanced? You can take it more seriously and add yourself to the top of your to do list. For example, if you are running around exhausted, use the shorter days to get more sleep. As the sun goes down, take a nap or resolve to get to bed earlier. You might initially feel that your schedule will be sacrificed but I think you’ll find that the healthier you will be much more productive than the exhausted you.
If you’re feeling unloved, use the colder nights for reason to cuddle!
If you’re anxious and stressed, light some candles, or set in front of a fire and unwind with a hot and relaxing cup of tea.
Whatever you need in order to gain balance, make it happen. Use the Fall Equinox to put yourself in a steady position. With a balanced perspective, who knows what you can achieve?
