Halloween is almost here! Only a few days remain before the tricks and treats of the season are past and the blood-red seas return to their accustomed color of blue.
Getting ready for your crew’s Halloween party? Make sure to get your seasonal accoutrements while they’re still available. Then, once you’re satisfactorily dolled up, commemorate the spooky festivities with a portrait. Wear vampire raiments, exchange pumpkin cupcakes and black cat dolls with your hearties (don’t forget to inscribe a personalized note!), don a Halloween top hat, and disguise your features with the visages of imps, ravens, and more. Masks, hats, raiments and seasonal trinkets can be found at the Palace Shoppe. Visit your local furnisher’s shoppe for autumnal fixtures and decor of a skeletal nature! Available through November 3.
During this Halloween season, you should plunder sea monsters’ lairs just as often as you can, or pick a fight with a brigand king if you’re feeling feisty. That’s how you’ll win limited edition “ghastly trinkets” which you can then exchange for new monster dolls at the trading post. What are ghastly trinkets, you ask? Why, they’re candy! Depending on where you go trick-or-treating, different kinds of candies await your victory: Chewy kraken eggs, ghastly gobstoppers, cultist chews and more! You might even win a few sweets by participating in puzzling competitions that may pop up in your Ahoy! tab at any minute. These, too, will only be available until November 3.
(No, the trading post will not accept last year’s trick-ARRR-trinkets in exchange for monster dolls. They only want the freshest candy, or so I hear.)
Finally, don’t miss this year’s pumpkin carving contest! You might win a familiar! Acquire a pumpkin–a real one, not a YPP trinket!–and carve a Puzzle Pirates design of your own creation into its great round side. (If pumpkins are not available where you live, improvise. Other gourds and squashes are perfectly acceptable. You might even go old school and carve a turnip.) Write up a card/paper with your pirate’s name and ocean and the year 2014. Then, take pictures of your pumpkin and your card! Take at least two pictures during the creation and carving process, so as to prove that you really did the work, then take one picture of your masterpiece as-is and another with its candle lit. Upload these photos to Imgur (account optional), then include links to them in your entry post on the entry thread. Your deadline to enter the contest is tomorrow, October 29, at 11:59:59 game time.
Hurry! The competition is already very fierce–and some of the carvings are very intricate! Make sure to visit the forum thread linked above for the complete details before you enter. Your Puzzle Pirates Examiner tried to include them all here, but she may have missed a spot. So go read Clotho’s official contest instructions and follow them to the letter.
