The highly anticipated and Marvel’s biggest film yet, “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” arrives to theaters next summer. It will feature a lot of familiar superhero faces, along with several new ones. On Friday, Cinemablend and Entertainment Weekly revealed new info for the upcoming super-packed Marvel chapter. Below are details to siblings Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver and how “Age of Ultron” managed to hide Scarlett Johansson’s (Black Widow) pregnancy.
First off, whose side are Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver on? Joss Whedon answered, “Team Ultron!” Whedon explains, “They’re on Team Ultron, which makes things really hard for the Avengers because all of a sudden they’re dealing with powers that they’re not used to.”
Judging from leaked set photos though, we’re assuming that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver won’t be Team Ultron for too long – the leaked images show Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye working together. Fans believe that they’ll soon realize what side they are on and team up with the Avengers.
Marvel comic fans might remember that the siblings are always holding hands and looking out after each other, a close relationship right? Some saw this as a bit more than that. According to the source, “Apparently Joss Whedon is going to have some fun with one of the more perverse suggestions of the Marvel Universe.”
Elizabeth Olsen tells the source, “They’re always so close, it’s almost uncomfortable. Aaron and I have been playing a little bit with those kinds of images [from the comics] just for ourselves.”
Next bit of info is on 29-year-old actress Scarlett Johansson. The star is several months along in her pregnancy, and she kicks butt as Black Widow, so how is production hiding her baby belly?
“We’re not avoiding any of the danger because the stuntwomen do the danger – as has always been the case,” Whedon says. “She’s [Johansson] very central to the movie and when we heard [about the pregnancy] we scheduled things around that. She’s not going to spend the whole movie carrying groceries. We didn’t trim any scenes. We’re like: We’ll make it work.”
The source also shares that there will be digital edits and techniques they will and have been using. Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) even chimed in with, “There’s a lot of close-ups. It’s not too hard at all.”
There are also at least three stunt-doubles for her on set, according to Entertainment Weekly. “It’s always funny. You walk by, ‘Hey Scarlett, oh. Weird. You’re not Scarlett at all. Sorry.’ A lot of fake Scarlett’s around,” Chris Evans says.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” arrives to theaters May 1, 2015. Anyone else stoked to see Iron Man back on the big screen? Oh, and the other Avengers too, of course…[I’m a bit Iron Man biased]
