Bantam Pub is a small corner restaurant/bar on the corner of Ralph McGill in the O4W. It’s a quirky little spot with a bar area and inside dining, a patio spot, and a little side outpost across the parking lot for some overflow. The surrounding area is a sea of condos, with Bantam standing out as a little refuge.
The vibe is casual and friendly, from the furnishings to the décor to the service. There is nothing pretentious about being here, it’s a very comfortable spot to hang out or meet with friends. It’s always nice to see a place that neighborhood locals flock to, as well as a mix of other folks.
The food is pretty darn good as well, and reasonably priced. You’ll want to try out the lamb burger, which is topped with feta, chili marmalade and fried onions. The seared scallops score high marks amongst the regulars, as well as the hanger steak and seafood pasta.
Since this is a pub, they offer a good wine and beer menu. Nothing very crazy or edgy is currently on the list, but it’s a safe, dependable offering. Bantam also offers a few craft cocktails that are very popular, and often contain candy accompaniments. They are all delicious and you can’t go wrong picking any of them, unless of course cocktails and candy aren’t your thing.
If you do find yourself in the O4W, Bantam Pub is definitely worth taking a swing by to check out. They can get crowded during peak times, so plan your visit accordingly if you don’t want to wait for a table.
