If you have been pursuing the shelves of the supermarket looking for a bubbly, you have undoubtedly noticed the proliferation of the Barefoot Brand on the shelves.
Barefoot Wine and Bubbly (formerly Barefoot Wine) has dramatically increased their bubbly line. In addition to the sparkling wines previously found in the sparkling wine section, Barefoot now has added four Bubbly Fusion wines to their stable of sparklers.
The new line, known as the Fusion Series, features Pinot Grigio grapes infused with a variety of tropical style flavors.
The first flavor in the Fusion Series is the Barefoot Bubbly Citrus Fusion. As the name implies, the Citrus Fusion is filled with citrus style flavors. You will find peach, passion fruit and blood orange as the predominate flavors on the palate. This is a semi-sweet (but not overpoweringly sweet) wine. It is an afternoon drinking wine rather than an evening sipping wine. The wine will not overpower you as the alcohol content is under 10% (compared with 13-15% for many other wines).
Second in the Bubbly Fusion Series is the Tropical Fusion. This low-alcohol wine (10.25%) is full of pineapple, mango, and papaya. Like the Citrus Fusion, this is definitely a wine for warm-day enjoyment. If you enjoy a typical sparkling wine, this is a chance to double up and have both the pleasure of the bubbly as well as the delight of tropical fruits.
Berry Fusion is a sweeter mixture than the above-mentioned two. The wine has a full taste of berries, creating a rather unique taste, both at the beginning and on the finish. You will experience pomegranate, plum and cranberry as you enjoy this wine. A bit stronger, the alcohol content is 10.75%.
The final offering is the Bubbly Peach Fusion. In addition to the predominance of peachiness on the palate, this Fusion also features a hint of citrus and somewhat tart finish. The alcohol content falls in line with the others in the series, coming in at 10.5%.
Winemaker Jen Wall, who has been with Barefoot for 10 years, is proud of the extension of the barefoot line. The Fusion Series is offered at the same time as the acclaimed Refresh Series. Both series offer a change in traditional Barefoot products with an emphasis on creating wines with more character but not in the traditional linage.
This was a great opportunity to taste the Barefoot Bubbly Fusion series and I thank Barefoot and EJ Gallo for the opportunity to taste and write about the new offerings.
Have a winederful day.
