On Saturday morning, Amazon.com notified us to let our readers know that the red and matte black versions of the Beats Studio Wireless headphones are now on sale for $341–this is about $40 less than the regular cost. While the price is still too much for a pair of headphones, we have to say that after testing several headphones by several brands, the Beats Studio Wireless headphones are the best available on the market.
We have criticized Beats products a lot over the past couple of months. The Beats Pill XL is an uneven sounding Bluetooth speaker and the Powerbeats2 wireless earbuds leave a lot to be desired. But Beats has slowly been improving their sound, which started with the regular Beats Studio headphones earlier this year. Then, the sound improvement continued with the Beats Studio Wireless headphones. While past Beats products offered terribly exaggerated and unnatural bass, these new headsets offer a well-balanced sound with some exaggerated bass for bass lovers.
We chose the Beats Studio Wireless over the regular Beats Studio headphones, because the Wireless offer both a great Bluetooth and wired experience. Sound quality usually suffers through Bluetooth, but we barely notice that with the Beats Studio Wireless. When we turn off the Bluetooth and put on the wires, it’s hard to tell the difference. Best of all, the Beats Studio Wireless headphones are surprisingly light and comfortable.
We would still say that Bose is the best audio technology company. The sound that comes through Bose products sounds more natural than it does through most Beats products. However, Bose has not been able to make a decent set of wireless headphones yet. Their AE2w Bluetooth headset is absolutely terrible.
Let’s hope that the Beats Studio Wireless headset continues helping Beats overcome the “style over substance” stereotype. Our ears certainly notice the difference.
