This week on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Bikini Bar gets a little wild when the annual Halloween party is invaded by “Big Brother.” Cast members from Season 16are set to appear on the world-wide #1 soap this week. Fan favorite Donny Thompson plays a Spencer Publications employee who invites Liam (Scott Clifton) to join in on the Halloween fun. Once there, the fun begins with a competition with bar patrons, played by the “Big Brother” cast mates.
During the episodes, Liam and Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) heighten their budding romance while attending the annual Halloween party at Bikini Bar. Carter (Lawrence Saint Victor) and Donny are there to celebrate along with Donny’s “Big Brother” house guests Amber Borzotra, Cody Calafiore, Nicole Franzel, Zach Rance, Caleb Reynolds, Devin Shepard and Hayden Voss. Also tagging along are past “Big Brother” house guests Jordan Lloyd, Jeff Schroeder and Elissa Slater. “Big Brother’s” Brendon Villegas and Rachel Riley are no strangers to “The Bold and the Beautiful” audience, having recurred in the past as employees at the bar. The two are returning as well for these fun party episodes.
Daytime TV Examiner caught up with the gang, including fan favorite Donny and house guest Amber, on “The Bold and the Beautiful” set during the taping. The pair shared their thoughts on the appearing on the #1 soap in the world, their time in the house and they also answer if they would do it again.
Check out the interview with Donny and Amber below:
Phyllis: Donny, you’re the big star of the moment.
Donny: So they say.
Phyllis: You’re here, learning your lines. What was your reaction when you first heard about the invitation to appear on “The Bold and the Beautiful?” You heard from [“Big Brother” host and “The Talk” co-host] Julie [Chen] about it.
Donny: I was very emotional. When she said that. I felt honored. I was kicked off of one show and asked to be on another, I felt great.
Phyllis: Amber, what about you?
Amber: It was crazy. I was off the show and I got a call a week later and they said, “Hey, were interested in you for “The Bold and the Beautiful.” I just wanted to tell everybody but I had to wait until this moment to be like…I felt honored as well. Just to even know that there is another opportunity for me, even if it’s a little one.
Donny: So you knew early on.
Amber: Yeah, I knew the week after I left the house…
Phyllis: So you had to keep it a secret.
Donny: We had to keep a lot of secrets.
Phyllis: So now that you are doing the appearance on the soap, did you take any acting tips?
Donny: I haven’t taken any acting lessons. Jeff [Schroeder] played around with me when he interviewed me. I know nothing about it. I’m hoping they feed us some lines and let us look over the shoulders… I have a poor memory.
Amber: I know a little bit, but still you can help but be nervous. Plus your around people that… I’m lucky that I’m doing it with people I know. In the house, you’re yourself and everything is actually real and then you have to go and act…
Donny: My voice is so different anyway I hope it comes across as more than just saying lines or reading lines. It’s hard for me…I’m a goofy talker and I talk with my hands. It have to say something, I hope it looks natural.
Phyllis: Did you watch soap operas before?
Amber: I haven’t watched many of them until we would be on. Then my family said, “Oh, you should watch. It’s been on forever.” My family watches regularly. They were just as surprised as I was and now they get to see me on it. I’ve been watching to get the jest of it.
Donny: As far as this show, I just got out of the house so I haven’t had access to television. But when I was a young boy, I got used to get off the school bus with a little girl and we’d watch them…so I have watched soap operas before. Luke and Laura back in the 80s.
Phyllis: What was your experience like in the house? Was it anything like you thought it would be? Did you watch the show previously?
Donny: I’m a super fan. I have watched every season since the first season. I thought it was extremely different because I never watched live feeds. I only watched the shows. So they do some amazing things to the footage when they make these shows. So I got to see behind the scenes, inside the diary room and how it is. I was surprised. It was difficult but it was fun to know behind the scenes.
Amber: Right, you find out the sneaky stuff that went on. It was interesting. Me, going home, I knew the dirt on everybody. So when I’m sitting there on the stage at rush, I’, like “oh, buddy.”
Donny: If you only knew… (Laughs)
Amber: This has been an amazing chance. “Big Brother” has been awesome. I have some lifelong friends now on this stage especially Donny.
Donny: They’re all like my little sisters and brothers.
Amber: It’s crazy. The fact that “The Bold and the Beautiful,” that people noticed us and would want us to be a part of something else is very…it’s awesome.
Donny: For me, I don’t feel no different from the groundskeeper…you go in that house and within 10 minutes, you get accustomed to those cameras and you forget them. We don’t realize that people know us. Walking down the street and someone says, “Hey Don.” I haven’t absorbed that yet.
Phyllis: Knowing what you know now, if they asked you to go back on the show, to go back into the house again, would you? And if the answer is yes, would you do anything differently that you did this time?
Amber: If I did it, if I had the chance to do it again, I’d to things totally different. I played more with my heart and felt sorry for other people. So this time, I’d go in with guns blazing…
Phyllis: And thinking everything might be a game.
Amber: Yeah, and I’d worry about myself. I was worried about every other person, saving every other person and that’s what got me evicted I think in the end.
Donny: There were moments in the house that I was lonely had all these emotions and I was thinking, “Oh My God, what did I get myself into.” If I could go back, I wouldn’t have done it this season. But now that I’m out, I’ve decompressed. I have said, I would be an all-stars version. My fiancee begs to differ (Laughs)…
Amber: Fiancee? So she’s your fiancee… They don’t know that she’s your fiancee now.
Donny: I’ve become engaged…
Donny: Thank you. My fiancee said she wouldn’t want me to leave her for that long. Hey, you never know.
Amber: You’re a star now Donny.
Donny: The world can’t do without me. (Laughs)
Phyllis: Congratulations and winning the fan’s favorite…
Donny: Thank you so much.
Phyllis: What are your plans for that cash?
Donny: I had the question asked the other night. I answered maybe Lasik eye surgery but the first thing I should do is buy my fiancee a ring, an engagement ring.
