On Saturday September 6, 2014 Blistered Earth (The Ultimate Tribute to Metallica) blew the roof off the Knitting Factory Concert House in downtown Reno along with Reno locals SoultorN Nevada and Hollywood Trashed. Attendance for the show was pretty good with around 500+ die hard Metallica and Blistered Earth fans rocking out to every song the band played.
Well it happened again, Blistered Earth came to town and rocked the Biggest Little City to it’s core. These guys seem to get better and better every time they come to Reno to play the hits of one of rocks best and greatest metal bands of all time Metallica.
This examiners socks were blown off with the brutality and perfect rendition of all the Metallica songs they played and everyone there can attest to that. They killed it.
Blistered Earth formed in December of 2009 in Spokane, WA. They are known as the best Metallica tribute band on the planet (and it’s true). Playing all the classic songs ranging from 1983’s “Kill Em’ All”, to 1991’s self-titled “Metallica”, this tribute pays it’s respects to one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time with the raw energy, showmanship, look and song selections that die-hard Metallica fans want to see and hear, they are truly “the ultimate tribute to Metallica”.
Band members include, Jared Kiess (vocals, guitar), Shawn Murphy (drums), Jesse Jensen (lead guitar) and Cody “Cod” Davis (bass).
The set lasted around 90 minutes and went just like this,
“Blackened”, “Ride The Lightning”, “The Four Horsemen”, “Master Of Puppets”, “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)”, “Wherever I May Roam”, “Whiplash”, “Frayed Ends Of Sanity”, “Harvester Of Sorrow”, “One”, “For Whom The Bell Tolls”, “Seek And Destroy”, “Enter Sandman” and “Creeping Death”
If you’re a fan of metal legends Metallica, this is a must see show. You don’t want to miss these guys anytime they play. They are very good live.

Main support for Blistered Earth at this show were Reno locals SoultorN Nevada.
SoultorN Nevada is a thrash metal band that started in Reno NV. around 2008 with guitarist Tim Gormley. After about a year, bassist Nick Dzadek was picked up. Then in the early spring of 2010 they found singer Corey Hawkins. Pauly Navarro joined the band in mid 2012 on drums, bringing a new spectrum of sound to the SoultorN guys.
The band got around 30 minutes to blow everyone’s mind and that’s just what they did.
Their set list went like this,
“Silence”, “Time To Let Go”, “Wally”, “Destroyer Of Worlds”, “Death Defeated”, “Void”, “Tetbigote”, “Stop With The Back Talk”, “Eyes, Lies And Thighs” and “Purgatorium”.
SoultorN always puts on a fantastic show every time they hit the stage anywhere, just like they did on this night. They know what a metal show is supposed to be like and they show it with every performance. Definitely a Reno favorite. The band really brought it to this show.
Starting the night off and introduced by Reno radio legend Max Volume from Reno’s classic rock station KOZZ was another Reno local band Hollywood Trashed.
Hollywood Trashed are a hard rocking cover band based in Reno NV. Paying tribute to the bands that influenced a generation. From Classic Rock to the Big Hair Bands of 80’s. They play it the way it was meant to be played, high energy and hard rockin. They bring an intensity to the performance and song styling that will keep you screaming for more. The band takes you back to the glory days of rock when the Whiskey a go-go was number one and it was anything goes. Big hair, hot girls and music that you can’t get out of your soul.
Hollywood Trashed current line up is, Trish Good (lead vocals), Dave Ecker (lead guitar, vocals), Jim Jordan (rhythm guitar), Jim Wilson (bass) and Dave Svoboda (drums).
Trashed also got 30 minutes to rock the house and that they did.
The set list went like this, (from the set list on stage)
“Highway Star” (Deep Purple cover), “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” (Pat Benatar cover), “Crazy Train” (Ozzy Osbourne cover), “Stranglehold” (Ted Nugent cover), “Man In The Box” (Alice In Chains cover) and “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming” (Judas Priest cover).
As usual Hollywood Trashed did not disappoint, they always put on a great show and rocked the house. A perfect opener for a great rock show. Don’t miss this band the next time they play anywhere near you.
A great time was had by all.
