As NYC heads east for fun in the sun, the hottest place north of Montauk Highway is BLT Steak at CAPRI Southampton. After the success of last year’s pop-up, the restaurant debuted at the boutique hotel on Memorial Day weekend. From a classy late afternoon meal with family to partying with your friends on the weekend, BLT Steak at CAPRI Southampton is the ultimate place to go this summer.
BLT Steak is the flagship concept of ESquared Hospitality. CAPRI Southampton is known as the pre-eminent luxury boutique hotel experience in tony Southampton as well as a gathering spot for local celebrities. BLT Steak occupies the intimate restaurant space at CAPRI Southampton located at 281 County Road 39A (Route 27).
There is seating for 110 guests inside the restaurant and on the covered patio by the poolside of The Bathing Club at CAPRI Southampton. The restaurant serves full-course meals as well as poolside fare during the daytime hours. There is also a special menu of small plates for those at the outdoor bar and lounge areas in the evenings.
The flagship BLT Steak restaurant opened in New York City in 2004. Now the restaurant has over 30 locations around the globe. According to Michael Balsamo, Corporate Director of ESquared Hospitality, “last summer was successful” as many locals discovered the mouthwatering fare served at BLT Steak. One of the preferred dishes is BLT’s classic steak along with “the tuna tartare.” He also revealed wine was the preferred form of refreshment for many of the Hamptons guests.
While the restaurant has an impressive wine selection, we tried the French Mojto instead based on the recommendation of our attentive waiter. The mojito was refreshing and summery with a dash of mint and Chambord. It is sure to become poolside favorite this summer. To stay hydrated as we dined, we sipped Fiji water and Pellegrino sparkling water.
The decadent meal started with specialty appetizers. Our favorite was the jumbo shrimp cocktail with large and luscious shrimp dipped in a snappy cocktail sauce. The salmon sushi soaked in lemon and cilantro was uniquely tasty. We wanted to feast on BLT Steak’s famed Popovers flavored with guyere cheese but decided to save some room for our steaks. Fortunately, the restaurant also serves up recipe cards so you can try to emulate these yummy Popovers at home.
The flavorful filet mignon topped with herbed butter was the perfect texture. The hanger steak cut like butter with just enough fat to make it mouthwatering. Diners can choose from three tantalizing steak sauces. After some deliberation, we chose to have French fries as the side dish. The golden fries were cooked to perfection with soft potato innards and a crispy exterior. The rich chipotle dip gave these fantastic fries a dash of spicy flavor.
The dinner was topped off with BLT Steak’s signature dessert, a delectably different peanut butter chocolate mousse. We also had a golden opportunity to try mini brownies with a delightful espresso topping. While I sipped a light Prosecco with dessert, my companion opted for a rich cup of coffee.

The restaurant features intimately spacious booths, cozy tables and nautical rope designs on the wall. The comfortable environment is accentuated by jazz, pop and rock music played at the perfect volume. One of the most outstanding amenities is the impeccable service. The service staff is polite, attentive and available when you need them without being intrusive.
BLT Steak at CAPRI Southampton will be open for dinner Thursday through Sunday from Memorial Day through July 4 weekend, and Wednesday through Sunday from July 4 weekend through Labor Day weekend. They are also open for poolside lunch service on Saturdays and Sundays. The hotel’s Bathing Club will be home to an apres-beach party each Saturday, hosted by pop-up maestro Travis Bass, notable DJs and surprise guests for special events to be announced.
