Forecast discussion: After three days of a strong low pressure system hanging around eastern Massachusetts, the system is finally heading towards Nova Scotia. As we move through the overnight, the cloud cover will begin to break, and we will see a few stars in the sky. The drier air is due to a high pressure ridge moving in from western New York.
Temperatures will definitely be cooler tonight compared to previous nights, as the mercury falls into the lower 40’s. But, we will see sunny skies and seasonable temperatures on Saturday. But, we will see increasing clouds during the late afternoon, as a weak cold front over Minnesota passes through the area. We may even see an isolated shower, but the front will quickly pass to our east by early Sunday morning.
The high pressure system will take over our weather again on Sunday, but cooler air will help create some strong breezes by early Monday morning. By Monday night, a warm front will move through Southern New England as it passes to the north. It will help bring milder air for Tuesday and Wednesday. The cold front associated with the same low will pass through Wednesday morning, helping to create some isolated showers. The front will move offshore by early Thursday morning, and we will return to mostly sunny skies, but with cooler temperatures.
The early look for Halloween at the moment is mostly sunny skies with cooler air coming down into New England next Friday night. Some computer models are showing the possibility of another coastal low forming on Friday, but it will be well offshore. I will continue to watch the models through the weekend, as the models have had this low much closer to the east coast in previous runs.
