Forecast discussion: A weak disturbance remained over Boston on Sunday, giving us some cloud cover and isolated showers during the day. In fact, I noticed light rain falling in Foxboro during the Patriots game this afternoon. However, as the sun began to set, the skies began to slowly clear, as daytime heating came to an end. We will see clear skies but breezy conditions during the overnight.
A high pressure ridge will push through Monday afternoon, helping to bring sunny skies and also to help diminish the winds. The ridge will remain over Southern New England into Tuesday night. Also, a warm front will move into Northern New England, allowing our winds to turn to the southwest. This will allow warmer air from the south to move up into New England. In fact, we may see high temperatures reach 70 degrees on Wednesday.
But, as we enjoy the mild weather, a cold front will push through the area Wednesday morning. We will see cloudy skies and isolated showers by the end of the morning commute. We will see off and on showers until the early evening. Then, the front will move offshore, giving us nice weather for Thursday.
As we head into the weekend, the computer models have been going back and forth with intensifying a weak low pressure system near Ohio Friday morning. The low will push through Northern New England, but it will bring us breezy conditions and some showers while trick-or-treaters are getting their candy. Also, we will feel the coldest air of the season on Saturday, as scattered showers remain over the area, along with strong winds. In fact, the precipitation may end as some snow showers early Sunday morning. But, the ground is too warm for anything to stick. Also, we will be changing our clocks next Sunday morning, as we “fall back” one hour. We will see partly sunny skies on next Sunday, but high temperatures are only expected to be in the middle to upper 40’s.
