The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball today announced that The Bridgeport Bluefish will host the 2015 Atlantic League All-Star Game on July 8, 2015 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. This will be the third time that Harbor Yard will host the event, having previously held the league’s Mid-Summer Classic in 1999 and 2006.
“It’s a great honor to be able to host the 2015 Atlantic League All-Star Game and we look forward to putting together a fun-filled schedule of events,” said Bluefish general manager Jamie Toole. “This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, the city of Bridgeport and the entire Southern Connecticut region”
The festivities will actually commence on Tuesday, July 7, to make the All-Star Classic a two-day affair with Bridgeport welcoming players, coaches and fans from around the league to the Park City. More information, including ticket information, activities and accommodations, will be announced soon.
“The Atlantic League is delighted the 2015 All-Star Game will be hosted by the Bridgeport Bluefish,” said Atlantic League President Rick White. “The Bluefish organization is working hard to create an extraordinary mid-summer celebration. Bridgeport’s Ballpark at Harbor Yard is an apt showcase for Atlantic League players to display their special brand of baseball magic to Bluefish friends and followers who have supported the ball club over the years. We are excited at the prospect of a very special All-Star Game event next July in one of the Atlantic League’s premier locations.”
In conjunction with the 2014 Atlantic League All-Star Game, the league revealed the event’s official logo, designed by Skye Design Studios (www.sdsbranding.com), a brand identity and design firm located in the greater New York City area.
“This identity was a great opportunity to celebrate the city of Bridgeport as the home of the Bluefish for nearly two decades,” said Skye Dillon of Skye Design Studios. “The primary logo features the smokestacks and Amtrak train just beyond the outfield wall at Harbor Yard. In addition to both being part of the game day experience for fans, they also represent core elements of the city’s industrial history. Custom lettering and ribbon work was inspired by Bridgeport native P.T. Barnum’s iconic circus posters – an ideal balance of classic and fun, fitting for an All-Star Game. The mark is set within the silhouette of Connecticut as a postcard of sorts for visiting fans.”
The Bluefish, charter members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, widely recognized as the leading independent circuit in the nation, will open their 18th season in the Park City on Friday, April 24, 2015, when they entertain the Camden Riversharks.
