Caitlin O’Connor is game for just about anything. She’s been an actress, model, TV host, dancer, advice guru and Top Rank Boxing ring girl, and she’s done it all while being one of the “top ten hottest girls in America,” according to Maxim. We met Caitlin last week to get to know her and her varied resume a little bit better.
“I think because I’m such an open person and I never had tunnel vision on exactly what I wanted to do, more opportunities have come to me and I’ve been able to make more friends in different circles of people,” she reflected. “And that’s helped my career blossom. When I started, I knew that I wanted to be in entertainment in some way. I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I just knew I didn’t want a nine-to-five job.”
That idea has led her down multiple paths, whether it’s appearing in a commercial for Budweiser Black Crown or guesting as Samantha in the third season of Comedy Central’s sketch show Key & Peele. While you’re more likely to know her as a model, it’s being an actress that drives her. “Modeling pays the bills and acting is my passion,” she said. “I just produced a short film called Claire, with my friend who’s also an actress, Jessica Morris. It’s about a girl who gets cheated on and goes off her medication and winds up killing her boyfriend!” You can find out more about Claire by visiting clairethemovie.net.
“Acting is my passion, but I want to do a little bit of everything,” Caitlin continued. To that end, not only did Maxim call her one of the most beautiful women in America, it also enlisted her to give their readers her point of view on their relationship issues. “I have been working for Maxim and a few other different websites as not really a relationship coach, but I give advice to guys and couples on their relationships,” she told us. “It’s something I like to do.”
Even the things she never planned on doing have worked out for the UCLA grad. “I have had such a fun time recently working for Top Rank Boxing. I’m one of their lead ring girls, so I get to travel all over,” she told us. “When Top Rank asked me to do that, I was a little hesitant. But to pay the bills I said yes. And then after posting on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter of my experiences, the movie Southpaw found me and asked me to be in the movie. So it actually facilitated a real acting role for me.”
That’s a half-dozen different hats Caitlin has actively worn. Has having such a diverse resume made it more difficult for her to establish herself in other people’s eyes? “It’s hard in terms of branding and I recognize that, but it depends on who I’m talking to,” she said. “If I’m going in for a hosting job, I’m not going to mention the modeling stuff.”
And she likely wins them over with her outgoing personality and love of pop culture. Caitlin is definitely not the stereotypical beautiful girl who’s coasting on her looks; she can hold a conversation on many subjects, and guys and ladies alike will appreciate her many interests. “I am a huge fan of Joss Whedon,” she explained. “I’m a comic book fan. My favorite comic book is Red Sonja. I love Batman; Superman is a close second.
“I like comic books and I like cars. Growing up I wanted to be a director of photography or a cinematographer and life sort of took me a different way,” she continued. “and I like to write.”
But don’t get your hopes up, guys: she has a boyfriend. “I’m a serial monogamist,” she laughed. “I’m pretty much always in relationships. But I did spend the last ten months single!”
