Celebrity properties are fascinating to fans of real estate, interior design, and those who admire lifestyles of the rich and famous. That may be why the home of rapper Dr. Dre made headline news in Forbes magazine on Jun. 27, 2014. It’s on the market and the music mogul’s Realtors are hoping to cash in on his hip-hop notoriety from the looks of things. But there’s a kick. The asking price for the home is nearly twice what he paid for it back in 2011 when he bought the house from a world-famous celebrity — namely, super model Gisele Bundchen.
Hip-Hop mogul Dr. Dre was the buyer of the $40 million custom mansion built by New England Patriots’ star Tom Brady and his supermodel wife, Gisele Bundchen.
Now that Dre is ready to roll in his new Brentwood estate, he’s listed his gated home in Los Angeles.
According to the source, “The price is $35 million.” Yes — apparently if you are a successful rap singer you are able to afford a home worth that much money… or at least that is what the rapper’s Realtor posse hops you will think.
You see, Dre never actually purchased the home for that much cash. In all reality, Forbes magazine revealed, “Dr. Dre bought the mansion in 2011 for $15.4 million.”
If Dre is looking to capitalize on star power, the timing to double up on price may be right. For those who are not aware of who Gisele Bundchen is, news was just released on June 27, 2014 on Yahoo Sports that the Brazilian model will be a part of the World Cup final ceremonies happening on July 13 (July 14 AEST), making her even more famous than her American football player husband.
But if the celebrity spotlight does not light up your life, aesthetically the house itself may be worth it’s weight in gold to any buyer who thinks the design is right. Since it was the former pad of Tom Brady and Gisele, a celebrity couple well known for their good taste in decorating and building comfortable celebrity homes, one can safely assume the layout and interior design features are spectacular.
[Actually Forbes further reported that it includes, “6 bedrooms, 9 baths, a library and media room, a guesthouse and wine cellar, as well as a pool and patio that offer a glimmering view of LA.”]
But is the house worth $35M now simply because the rap star purchased the home less than 4 years ago? That’s a mighty big jump in price for some adoring fan to have to pay simply because they are interested in owning a celebrity pad.
Will the overpriced celebrity home sell fast? Stay tuned to find out from the Celebrity Property Examiner.
