Charlotte, NC, July 18, 2014: The Carolina BrewMasters, a Charlotte-based nonprofit homebrew club, announced that the 16th annual Charlotte Oktoberfest sponsored by Lagunitas Brewing will be held on Saturday, September 27 at the NC Music Factory.
“This is our second straight year at the NC Music Factory based on the overwhelming response from festival goers, breweries, vendors, and volunteers. We knew we had to back in Uptown Charlotte in 2014,” said Charlotte Oktoberfest Marketing Director Cesar Leyva. Charities benefiting from this year’s Charlotte Oktoberfest will be:
- Kids Rein – a program providing therapeutic horseback riding for children struggling with physical, emotional, and learning disabilities
- Classroom Central – provides school supplies for children living in poverty
- Camp CARE (Cancer Ain’t Really the End) – provides summer camps and year round activities to children who have or have had cancer, as well as their families
“Last year alone, Charlotte Oktoberfest donated $75,000 to local charities,” said Chief of Sponsorship Recruitment Jeff Mason. “Our volunteers put in the countless hours of work it takes to pull this festival off because of the impact our donation makes in the Charlotte community through these deserving charities.”
General admission and premier admission tickets go on sale August 1st at 11:00 AM at www.CharlotteOktoberfest.com. Premier admission allows ticket holders to enter the festival an hour and 30 minutes early. Prices are $45 for general admission and $65 for premier tickets.
“For true beer aficionados, this early admission provides a unique opportunity to meet the brewers, brewery representatives and homebrewers who make this festival one not to be missed,” said Festival Director Rick Benfield. “Not only will they experience shorter lines for that hour and a half, premium ticket holders will get the chance to enjoy one of our many guided and themed beer tours.”
The festival also will include live music, featuring the band StellaRising and back by popular demand, U-phonik. Vendors will be on hand to sell food and other items during the event.
Guests will be able to sample from more than 350 different beers from more than 100 breweries. General admission and premier admission ticket holders will receive a six-ounce souvenir “tasting glass” for samples until 6 p.m. There are no pay-per-drink tickets that discourage guests from trying unfamiliar styles. Instead, festival-goers will be armed with the tasting glass, along with a program to help guide them through the event.
All attendees must be 21+ with a valid picture ID and a printed or digital ticket. Lawn chairs, blankets, cameras, umbrellas and bottled water are permitted. The following are not permitted: pets; firearms or other weapons; coolers, mugs or other drinking vessels; food or beverages of any kind with the exception of bottled water. Free parking is available at the NC Music Factory.

From the beginning, the goal was to educate Charlotte residents about the craft brewing movement, and place special emphasis on the growing number of breweries in the Southeast. In the 16 years since its founding, the festival has grown to become one of the largest beer festivals in the Southeast, and was named one of the Top 10 Fall Beer Festivals in the country by www.roadtripsforbeer.com in 2010. The festival is a nearly 100 percent volunteer-run event. Festival organizers have donated around $500,000 to local Charlotte charities.
