Chicago PD premiered with a half-season sign up and the show proved quickly how gritty it can be. This is not the typical law show that’s on the air and plays more around the gray and black area of justice. The squad quickly sees that it’s hard to learn who they can trust. Voight (who we had met on Chicago Fire) is the leader and shows that he will do anything to get justice. He tries to teach his squad to do the same, but it’s easier said then done. They lose two of their numbers and almost a third.
The show did so well that it was picked up for a full season. We will be picking up where we left off as the squad will deal with the downfall of Sheldon’s betrayal while also trying to solve his murder. Dawson will try and figure out what happened with his wife as she had left with the kids. We should get answers that we are looking for and a whole new batch of questions. Be ready for a long season that will have a lot of twists and turns that you won’t see coming.
Voight is being questioned by the IAB about Sheldon, obviously he’s not happy about this. There is tension amongst the squad as they want to investigate it but can’t because Voight’s a suspect.
It looks like Lindsey got Nadia a job working for them.
The squad tries to move on to another case that they are working and it leads to a shoot out while Ruzek is trying to be under cover.
Burgess gets a new partner in Shawn Roman (who is not at all happy that she is a girl). And right away he helps with the case by identifying one of the victims from the shooting. There is something going on there with him and having female partners.
Halstead gets a mysterious letter from his old prescient (which is 6 weeks late). Turns out the letter is from Sheldon and there is a flash drive in the package. Lindsey wants to tell Voight but obviously Halstead wants to check it out first.
It looks like this new case is going down the crapper as the DNA that they have on them is going out of the area to be reinvestigated for an old case that Oslinsky/Voight had worked.
Oslinsky meets with Oscar (the man who was behind the robbery) and says that he’s going after him because his men shot at the police. This Oscar character picked the wrong people to pick a war with.
Halstead/Lindsey investigate Lou Kendricks (one of the guys in the heist) and find him shot dead in his home. They know that they were made which is why it all went south for them.
Burgess/Roman find one of the other guys in the heist, Chris, and arrest him. And of course Chris sings like a canary and tells them about a drop off going out that night for the evidence bag that he’s exchanging with Oscar. At the meeting, things don’t go exactly according to plan but they are able to arrest Oscar.
Halstead looks at the flash drive and doesn’t like what he sees. He ends up giving the flash drive to Voight (considering how much he has a problem with him). Voight uses the flash drive against Ed because he had threatened Sheldon about his father’s gambling debts. This backfires as it looks like Ed has the trump card. The truth about Voight’s being back in the PD. Halstead is angry that nothing happened to Ed.
After a visit from Sheldon’s parents, Voight has a change of heart and he goes to Perry with the transcripts of Ed killing Sheldon. Good news for Sheldon as he gets some justice as Ed’s arrested. Bad news for Voight as this is all going to come back on him. To cover himself, Voight comes clean with his squad about how he got his job back.
At the end of the show, Oslinksy meets with an informant with some information on Halstead. Turns out there is a hit on Halstead.
So apparently Voight has a secret safe that’s stashed with files and miscellaneous stuff but the thing to notice is the stack of money in there. He takes some and gives to Sheldon’s dad to pay off his gambling debts. Is this what he’s doing with all the money gets from his informants?
In other news, the relationship between Burgess and Ruzek heats up. Voight has a meeting for whether or not he can keep his job. Apparently Sheldon is able to save Voight’s job as he has some interesting information on that thumb drive that Voight is able to use to save his job. We find out who Bunny is by the end of the show. It’s her mother and they obviously are not friends.
In next week’s episode, a case hits close to home as Voight works a case that hits close to home and he stops at nothing to try and find the killer.
