If you are looking for live music on Sunday, June 22, look no further. Here are the details on a Christian music festival in Granger, a South African rock band coming to Des Moines, and a few other shows to round out your weekend.
Civil Twilight got their start as a trio in Cape Town, South Africa before moving to Los Angeles and eventually settling in Nashville, where they picked up a fourth member. The band’s indie rock sound quickly found a home on American television, being used in everything from Alias, One Tree Hill, and House to The Vampire Diaries, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and various WWE video promo packages. The band’s second album, Holy Weather, came out in March of 2012 and peaked at #3 on the Heat chart, #20 on the Alternative chart, and #31 on the Rock chart. The band has since released a non-album single entitled “Too Far Gone”, and they have also given away a song to their fans, entitled “The Courage or the Fall”, that was recorded for the Iron Man 3 soundtrack but never used. The band will play a 7 p.m. all ages show at Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines on Sunday. Tickets for the show are $12 in advance and $15 the day of the show.
Granger’s Emmanuel United Methodist Church and Assumption Catholic Church are again teaming up for their annual Praise Festival. The Christian music festival will be held in Granger Centennial Park on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature live music, vendors, an auction, kid’s games, inspirational speakers, food, and more. Here is the schedule of bands that will perform at the 2014 Praise Festival:
11:30 a.m.: Lori Ancona & Tom Murphy
12:45 p.m.: Piercing the Darkness
