Comedy Central has announced today that its newest late night hit, @midnight, produced by Funny Or Die, will hit the road this fall for the first time since its wildly successful launch, trading Silicon Beach for Silicon Alley. The social media sensation joins the stellar lineup of the 2014 New York Comedy Festival to tape a week of shows which will air Monday, November 3 through Thursday, November 6 at, well…midnight (ET).
Hosted by Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick, the special week of episodes will include visual and textual nods to New York and feature a menagerie of comedians playing fan favorites such as #HashtagWars, Rapid Refresh and Sweet Emoji. The @midnight tapings will be filmed at ABC Television Center on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and free tickets can be obtained here.
“Sure, we get a lot of comedians to come onto our show in Los Angeles, but we felt in order to get the choicest, juiciest comedy specimens we needed to go straight to the nest where they live and breed–The New York Comedy Festival,” said Hardwick.
@midnight leads viewers down the ultimate internet wormhole with a rotating lineup of today’s top comedians battling nightly to determine who has the funniest take on the day’s social media and pop culture. Using social media as the medium and a fake game show as the setting, the show challenges comedians to win the internet by slashing the craziest, most absurd news and posts that social media has to offer: from the latest celebrity Instagram shots to the creepiest Craigslist posting to Buzzspeed lists and the now infamous #HashtagWars.
@midnight airs Monday through Thursday at 12:00 a.m. ET, following The Colbert Report and is executive produced by Hardwick, Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant; Mike Farah and Joe Farrell for Funny Or Die; Alex Blagg, Jason Nadler and Jon Zimelis of Serious Business; showrunner Jack Martin; and Alex Murray of Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Gary Mann and Tara Schuster are the Executives in Charge of Production for Comedy Central.
The hilarious show’s past guest panelists include Judd Apatow, Doug Benson, Jason Biggs, Jack Black, Neal Brennan, Hannibal Buress, LeVar Burton, Ice Cube, Andy Daly, Will Ferrell, Kyle Gass, Ilana Glazer, Seth Green, Jonah Hill, Abbi Jacobson, Kyle Kinane, David Koechner, Natasha Leggero, Thomas Lennon, Joe Lo Truglio, Marc Maron, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Jonah Ray, Rob Riggle, Kristen Schaal, David Spade, Amber Tamblyn, Channing Tatum, Aisha Tyler, David Wain, Wil Wheaton, and Weird Al Yankovic.
