I love writing about a good hometown success story.
A local company is outfitting a local hotel with high tech electronics, right in the bathrooms of their guest’s suites.
It’s also a story about why the Comfort Suites, a mid priced, but quality hotel chain and why their Green Bay, Wisconsin property’s upgraded rooms have one of the best and most high tech showers you will find in the world.
The televisions are products of Seura, a Green Bay-based consumer electronics company that has their flat-panel televisions right in the deluxe rain shower showers, in 40 of the hotel’s rooms.
“We decided to replace the whirlpools that were in the rooms with the rain showers and TVs from Seura,” said Aaron Wolf, Director of Sales and Marketing/operator of the Comfort Suites in Green Bay. “The fact they are located right here in Green Bay, adds to the story.”
A few years ago, Seura’s idea was to make your bathroom high tech and just like any other room in your house.
“There was a big trend at that time for moms to create this personal sanctuary within their homes,” Gretchen Gilbertson, one of the founders of Seura says. “They were spending so much money on these spaces that they didn’t want to put ugly technology in the room, so this was a really great idea for us to be able to capitalize on that trend.”
Green Bay’s Comfort Suites, located at 1951 Bond St. is on board with the trend.
My room at Wolf’s Comfort Suites had a huge shower, a rain shower if you will. When I checked in at the front desk, they gave me a sheet of instructions on how to use the shower. It turned out to be helpful. If you weren’t familiar with the controls and knobs, the instructions were a big help. The rain showers allow the water to come from the front in different pressures and from above, like you were caught in a summertime Wisconsin downpour.
As a bonus, a water-proof remote for the Seura TV that was embedded into the wall at the back of the shower was waiting for me, right next to the sink.
Not only was I able to watch baseball replays in my bathroom, it added to my enjoyment of taking a shower.
The Seura technology worked perfectly and loved how it seamlessly fit right into the look of my Comfort Suites bathroom. The showers stalls, or should I say rooms- since they are so large are also lighted perfectly so the television picture is bright and vibrant.
Seura also makes lighted mirrors, TV mirrors and outdoor televisions among other unique tech products.
The Comfort Suites in Green Bay didn’t stop there when it came to improvements.
The property’s ballrooms and hallways were recarpeted and the check in area and lobby got a refresh with a new floor and a new front desk.
“You have to refresh to stay relevant,” says Wolf.
I asked Wolf what has been the feedback of the rain showers and the Seura TVs.
“They are very popular,” he said, noting that guests may be spending more time in the showers. “Our water bills have gone up a little bit.”
I guess you can say, the Comfort Suites in Green Bay may have the cleanest guests of any Comfort Suites in the country.
