Week 2 of Season 19 of “Dancing With the Stars” brings us “My Jam Monday.” CommDigiNews on Sept. 21 likened it to last year’s “Party Rock Anthem” with the “jam” being a matter of personal taste. We can thank the folks over at Pure DWTS for the spoilers.
Season 19 Week 2 will bring us some more Cha Chas, Foxtrots and Jives. We’ll also see a few Salsas, Sambas and one Jazz routine.
Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas laid claim to the jazz number. Jazz is where Ballas first started in dance and he’s ‘jazzed’ about doing it to Jason Aldean’s “She’s Country.”
Alfonso Ribiero and Witney Carson who stole the show in week 1 will get to do the party dance, the Samba. The couple will dance to “Getting Jiggy Wit It” which some of you may recall is by Ribiero’s former “Fresh Prince” co-star, Will Smith.
We’ll get another Samba from Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater. Last week Waltrip promised fans “I’m going to Samba my rear off.” Hopefully he does better than last week with “Girls In Bikinis” by Lee Brice.
Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd got the Salsa which they’ll dance to Gloria Estefan’s “Higher.” As long as Chong keeps things entertaining, he’s sure to stick around for a while.
Antonio Sabato and Cheryl Burke were given the sensual Rumba. Sabato will really have to let loose this week. Last week he was chastised for having dancing in his blood last week but not in his feet. The song is “Adorn” by Miguel.
Lea Thompson and Artem Chigsintsev will get a chance to show their stuff with a jive. Thompson has been seen doing some pretty slick tap dance moves on her show, “Switched at Birth” so we bet she will do great. The song is “Land of 1000 Dances” by Wilson Pickett.
Betsey Johnson and Tony Dovoloni will Foxtrot to Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” Hopefully no feather boas are being used in the performance.
Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy will also Foxtrot but to “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen. Parrish shows promise but needs to make her move to get to the top of the leader board.
Bethany Mota and Derek Hough are the third couple Foxtrotting. They got “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor which would prove challenging to Foxtrot to for anyone. We think Derek will choreograph something spectacular, though.
Jonathan Bennett and Allison Holker will deliver what they say will be a “spicy” Cha Cha to “Sing” by Ed Sheeran. Tavis Smiley and Sharna Burgess will also Cha Cha their way through Earth Wind and Fire’s “Boogie Wonderland,” while Randy Couture and Karina Smirnoff Cha Cha to “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones.
“Dancing With the Stars” airs Monday night, Sept. 22 on the ABC. The last “Results” show will follow on Tuesday, Sept 23 before the show resumes its single-night format.
