Austin’s own movie mecca, the Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline, is hosting a Dawn of the Planet of the Apes screening today with director Matt Reeves and stars Andy Serkis (Caesar) and Gary Oldman (Dreyfus) in attendance. Not only will there be opportunities for audience-member questions with a Q&A afterward, but the event will be streaming live on Youtube and viewers will be able to submit questions.
The Q&A with Reeves, Oldman and Serkis will live stream on Sunday, June 29th at 5:15 p.m.. Those viewing the live stream Q&A can submit questions via twitter using the hashtag #AskApes.
Catch the livestream of the Q&A with cast/director members here.
Some may remember the great 2011 Planet of the Apes reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, is due out in theaters on July 11th and brings back writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, as well as Serkis (as master Ape Caesar).
There’s been a directorial change as Reeves (Let Me In) has come aboard to direct, but given the big bucks and writing creds behind this sequel, I have high hopes.
As it has been a few years since the Apes reboot, fans may want to check out the original Rise of the Planet of the Apes before July 11th when Fox’s big budget sequel hits theaters. I, for one, am eager to see how they write James Franco’s character Will Rodman out of the story, as that character apparently doesn’t play a part in the sequel. Perhaps the mega-virus?
I’ll keep you updated!
