Industry leaders in modern design, Dwell on Design 2014 celebrated its 12th year exhibition at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This spectacular event included a three day presentation from artists, to designers, and furniture manufacturers who showcased their newest and latest innovations as well as state of the art technologies to bring to the design industry.
In addition, keynote speakers graced the Stage C, Kohler, and GE Monogram Innovation stage to speak about hot industry trends, innovative ideas, and products in design. Students from top Southern California schools of architecture and design presented their amazing designs in The Design for Tomorrow Student Exhibition.
Some really nice event high lights included The Los Angeles Home Tours which featured The Villa Casa East Side Tour, The Silver Triangle House (aka Butterfly House), and Dimpster Duplex (both West Side Home Tours). All of which remarkably showcased innovative modern architecture and design. The Green Car Ride and Drive provided test drives for eco-friendly hybrids and electric cars from coupes, to hatchbacks, to sedans, and SUV’s. Food and product demonstrations offered by L.A’s finest chef’s brought continuity and gave the show a unique quality you would only see at such an event.
Visiting the booths are especially fun because you get to see the product hands on, and also get an overview of the company’s start, as well as their currents projects and endeavors. For example, family owned Dacor’s President Steve Joseph discussed the company’s journey with how their innovations helped to shape the kitchen design industry of today. His very own uncle Tony conceptualized and developed the idea of the now standard 30″ convectional wall oven. And now it has beautifully enhanced into their latest Smart oven – The Discovery iQ Wall Oven and Controller; the world’s first to feature the integrated discovery iQ for Android. ( App now available through Google Play Store). They’ve also partnered with Le Cordon Bleu to help reach superb quality in cooking for the culinary school.
Vice President Kristin Kahle from Neo-Metro presented the companies fabulous Neo- Metro PAT Basin. A very nice collaboration with Dyson vacuums to offer a built in faucet and hand dryer experience (Dyson airblade tap faucet and hand dryer) to immediately follow after washing. This incredible soy based cast resin basin can withstand impact of 1,000 lbs. and has lower operational costs and maintenance than your average basin. Marketing Manager Matt Thomas offered some sleek designs by Nana Wall Systems to provide aesthetics and comfort with their innovative folding glass door panels. (FoldFlat System). Especially effective for outdoor living and entertaining, offering beautiful views and enhanced highlights, because the doors can fold and pivot all the way back to stack out of, parallel to the opening. Available in both wood and aluminum frame finishes.
Cerno Group celebrates its 5th year exhibition at Dwell on Design 2014. A Laguna Beach based design firm offers beautiful architectural elements in fine art lighting. Combined with wood finishes, linear elements and all LED lighting, Director of Sales and Marketing Bret Englander states he loves that the company is able to build and manufacture the products locally as the firm continually grows and expands its products.
Another industry leader in wall fixtures, under cabinet lighting, and wireless systems, Vice President Amy Hahne of legrand showcased the companies stunning Adorne Collection. Their switch portfolio featured state of the art technology and a captivating experience. The Touch Switch, The Wave Switch and The Sensa Switch which allows the lights to turn on and off when people enter a room, or do a hand wave to activate the switch, and/or you may choose to control lighting by capacitive touch like an iPod. Each year it hosts hundreds of programs, and even more products to reveal to the designer, architect and consumer. It definitely is the place to be for seeking out new ideas and dimensions in design. Exhibitors, vendors, and artists showcase their latest innovations and designs. And speakers share their expertise in different areas and fields of design, so if you weren’t able to make it this year, yes they have next year scheduled for Dwell on Design Los Angeles 2015 May 29-31, 2015.
