“Dancing with the Stars” season 19 continues Nov. 3 on ABC with an evening of performances devoted to a selection of famed Dynamic Duos. According to odds posted to Bovada Sportsbook on Oct. 29, although the identity of the celeb holding front runner status isn’t much of a surprise, the name of the long shot most definitely is.
Favored to take the coveted mirror ball trophy with 1/2 odds is “The Fresh Price of Bel Air” alum Alfonso Ribeiro. The 43-year old actor, who broke news of his wife’s pregnancy during the Oct. 27 edition of “DWTS,” has repeatedly proven himself title-worthy on the arm of pro Witney Carson. They began the season on a high note by nabbing an exceptional 36 points for their jive, and have since turned in a succession of well-received offerings, including a week four jazz number that earned them a perfect 40.
Ranked second with 5/2 odds is YouTube personality Bethany Mota, who works with five-time show winner Derek Hough. Like Ribeiro, Mota has delivered a set of strong performances, and earned one of the season’s first perfect marks with her week three jazz routine. Actress Lea Thompson, who dances with Artem Chigvintsev, sits in the three-spot with 7/1 odds after experiencing intermittent success with the judges.
In the middle of the pack with 10/1 odds is “Pretty Little Liars” actress Janel Parrish, whose showmance with partner Val Chmerkovskiy nearly overshadows her undeniable talent on the ballroom floor. The most egregiously under-ranked contestant, “Duck Dynasty” star Sadie Robertson, follows Parrish with paltry 15/1 odds that don’t accurately reflect her dance ability. The 17-year old reality star has experienced up and down weeks with the judges, most recently earning a meager 30 points for a truly inspired Halloween-themed Paso Doble with partner Mark Ballas.
With 50/1 odds, NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater are next in line. Although the recipients of the judges’ harshest criticisms –including a jaw-droppingly low 20 points for their Oct. 27 jive– Waltrip and Slater have proven themselves fan favorites time and again.
Finally, with 100/1 odds of victory, comedian Tommy Chong holds long shot status. Although he and partner Peta Murgatroyd have earned praise for their performances, he admitted during the Oct. 27 broadcast that the rigors of the competition are starting to get to him.
