In his 2014 season, Christian Bodiguel, Executive Head Chef of the iconic Venice Simplon Orient-Express (VSOE), is celebrating 30 years on board.
Christian is revisiting some of the dishes he created throughout his career aboard the world’s most famous train such as Roast Salt Marsh Lamb with sage flavored polenta. The chef is drawing inspiration from the train’s well-loved destinations, including Istanbul, Vienna, Prague, and Venice, so you can imagine how dazzling the dishes that emerge from his kitchen.
Celebrities and dignitaries alike have enjoyed Christian’s cuisine since he was appointed Executive Head Chef in 1984. His training at Saint Nazaire Culinary School and his experience as Head Chef at La Curonne, where he was awarded a Forchette d’Or, makes his cuisine a key element of the luxury experience on board the VSOE.
During the season from March – November, guests are treated to Christian’s fine cuisine amidst the VSOE’s restored 1920’s and 30’s carriages, personal steward service, and exceptional scenery as the train heads to some of Europe’s most renowned and beautiful cities.
