Who has time to read food labels? One of the reasons I became a vegetarian is because I got tired and disgusted of reading labels with things I couldn’t even pronounce. Seriously, what the hell is formaldehyde and why would it be good for me if it can be used to embalm people?
Ingredients matter. Despite what the “industry leaders” say, pesticides, GMO and other chemicals have absolutely no place in our food chain. I’m no scientist, but I full-heartedly believe many of our illnesses, allergies, mental dysfunctions etc. are directly related to our food sources. You only get one body. Treat it kindly, and it will return the favor.
Plant-based, seasonal and local ingredient meals do a body and the community good. When whole foods are digested, they go straight to work, where they are needed. Consider them taking the express lane to improving your health. The more chemicals and by-products, the longer, if ever, it takes for you to get the nutrients you need.
If you must source food that comes in a wrapper or packaged, the less ingredients, the better. Note to self, if you can’t read it, don’t eat it.
