Looking for a fright this weekend or next? These three haunted houses are long-time fixtures at Halloween in the Buffalo area, but they’ve been upgrades for 2014. Check out these haunts in Depew, Cheektowaga and Hamburg.
Frightworld – located at 1460 French Rd. in Depew, Frightworld features five haunted houses spread across thousands of square feet: Grindhouse, Phobiaz, Eerie State Asylum, Condemned and Insanity. It is recommended that children 10 and under be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $25 for admission to all haunted houses, or $33 for the VIP Frightpass. Frightworld is open various nights through Saturday, November 1st (for dates and times –click here for the schedule). House of Horrors and Haunted Catacombs – located at Union Consumer Square, 3757 Union Rd. in Cheektowaga (next to Sam’s Club), House of Horrors and Haunted Catacombs features the following haunted houses: Hell House, Killer Theater, The Walking Undead: Prison Break, The Walking Undead: Escape from Woodberry, Zombie Apocalypse Paintball and Dragged Into the Grave. The houses are recommended for teenagers and adults, and it is suggested that children under 10 be accompanied by an adult. The haunt is open 10 straight days from October 23rd through November 1st – find the complete schedule here. District of the Dead – located behind Sears at the McKinley Mall in Hamburg, this year’s haunt benefits Make-A-Wish and the Food Bank of WNY. It features six haunted houses, including Quarantined, Mine Shaft, Doll Evil, Chaos in 3D: Free-for-All, Restless: The Ghosts of Final Fear and The Roadhouse Slaughter Company. All ages are welcomed to visit District of the Dead, but it is recommended that children under age 12 be accompanied by an adult, according to the website. Tickets are $26 and are available online.
