This weekend, take a little trip to Sterling, Ellicottville or Gasport for some spooky Halloween fun and frights. The grounds of the Renaissance Festival hosts a new festival, while Ellicottville’s Nightmare Hayrides and Becker Farms’ Haunted Hayrides return for another season.
Sterling Halloweekends – the grounds of the Sterling Renaissance Festival in Sterling, New York (two-and-one-half hours from Buffalo) host Sterling Halloweekends – a new, reimagined Halloween event combining Screamer’s Hollow with a few more family-friendly aspects – on Saturday and Sunday, October 25th and 26th. The Kids Village is open for kids of all ages from 4 to 7 p.m., but it goes scary for evening guests (ages 13 and up recommended) from 7 to 10 p.m. Ticket prices vary by event, and can be purchased online or at the gate – call 315-947-5782 or visit www.sterlingnyhalloweekends.com for more information.
Nightmare Hayride on Sommerville St. – this scary hayride takes place at 6319 Sommerville Valley Rd. in Ellicottville (home of the Ellicottville Rodeo) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights through November 2nd, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. each night. The experience features a haunted maze, haunted barn, vortex tunnel and tractor-drawn hayride. The entire experience takes less than 45 minutes. Tickets are $17 each, kids under 5 are free. Becker Farms Haunted Hayrides – Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, October 24th through 26th from 7 to 9 p.m. (weather permitting) at Becker Farms, 3760 Quaker Rd. in Gasport. The Castle Labyrinth maze leads you to the Haunted Hayride – if you can find your way. If you survive, take a walk through Phylotec Biogenetic Testing Station and check out the terrifying man-eating monsters created during an experiment gone horribly wrong. Tickets are $9 – get more information at www.beckerfarms.com.
