The crowd grew larger as ‘invitation only’ guests made their way to the most magnetic and energetic fashion show of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2015. This would be more than just a presentation of pieces, one by one, down the makeshift runway. It was a theatrical production, a tribute to Miami Beach and its colorful culture and history on the streets of South Beach. In the eyes of Luli and Augusto Hanimian, style, fashion finesse, and entertainment, go hand in hand.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2015 took place at the quintessential Raleigh Hotel on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach from July 17 through July 21, 2014. This year marked the ten-year milestone for the fashion event which made it even larger and more memorable in the eyes of its attendees.
The design team behind Luli Fama, the swimwear brand most loved by celebrities, wanted to make sure that this would be a most memorable show and more than just magnificent. It was a packed house on the evening of July 20, 2014, as the lights in the Cabana Grande tent ,at the Raleigh, faded to black. Within a matter of minutes, dramatic red creatures as tall as the ceiling danced their way mysteriously down the runway with a powerful dance routine that took the audience by surprise and left them mesmerized in their seats. This led into one of the most popular and widely talked about collections of Swim Week.
Welcome ‘MIAMI NICE’, a unique interpretation of the city that attracts the international jet set, fast cars, beautiful people and a fascination with the vivacious energy that Miami holds for all those that visit and reside there. Luli and Augusto Hanimian, the designers behind the brand Luli Fama, drew their inspiration for this collection from the show that brought Miami its fame and fortune, ‘Miami Vice.’ Pastels and neon brightened the runway in the same dynamic way that Miami was shaped in the 80’s. Paying homage to Miami then and now, it was easy to see the symbolism that was represented by each piece. The assortment of tropical patterns, parrot prints, flamingos and underwater marine life, all appealed in that Caribbean and laid back, glamorous sort of way.
Some of the fashion takeaways sure to be a trend-setting hit for swim season included plenty of ruched bikini bottoms, crochet cut out triangle tops, a gold rush net plunge dress, tiny bikinis in amazing designs, free flowing caftans, crop tops and push-up bandeau tops. The finale was flawless as a lovely model graced the runway in a fluorescent snake open front kimono with pom-poms. The front row was an impressive set of guests that only confirmed the belief that Luli Fama is the “Celebrity favored swimwear brand.” The photographers gathered and the flashes began to go off as LeAnn Rimes and her husband, Eddie Cibrian, took their seats, ready to see what was new in the world of fancy swimwear.
This particular Luli Fama 2015 Swimwear Collection was unique, festive and fearless and full of allure and charisma. It put the audience in an upbeat state of mind, ready to manipulate the waves of the wide expanse of ocean, and then take the look to the streets as the sun sets in the west. We saw proof of a proud heritage with every single beautiful piece in the collection, whether it be swimwear or coverups or dresses. Luli Fama made the 10 year anniversary of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim even more special and lavishly memorable.
